One of my friends new to Japan told me that there are books in japanese, but with either furigana or just all in hiragana. and she wasnt talking about manga. She said the one she saw was Harry Potter. Does anyone know if this kind of thing exists, and where to get them? I think its a great idea, but I dont know how much of a market there would be for them.

it does exist. they sell the kind of books you're looking for at places likek maruzen and kinokuniya in the foreign books section. can't give you much more info than that, sorry. but check those big bookstores. i'm sure you'll find 'em.
