Hello everyone.

As many of you have travelled around Japan, so I think you do know about that issue.

Actually I have the opportunity to spend six month next year in Japan to study and meanwhile get involved into a researsh work along my fifth year in my home university in France.
The choice is between Tokyo Daigaku, Tohoku Daigaku, Kobe Daigaku and Kyushu Daigaku, but because it's not a degree issue, the reputation of the university doesn't make sens. According to you what is the best city between these four. Many people seems to tell Fukuoka is the best, as it's not a giant city, just big enouth to have fun, and good climate in winter face to the northern ones.
But are there many foreigner in these cities exept for Tokyo? And sure the research work won't let me many time to visit...

Thanks for giving me your opinion.
bye.

You will find foreigners in all these cities.

Sendai - nice mid-sized town, but far from anything, and cold in the winter. But the foreigners who live there seem to like it (I've met a few over the years).
Tokyo - huge, awesome, expensive, lots of foreigners
Kobe - nice mid-sized city, right on the ocean, but close to Osaka, which is nice if you want to get into the big city. A good choice if you are a person who prefers smaller places, but with access to bigger places.
Fukuoka - I've only been once, and only for one night so I can't say much, but it has the reputation of the hottest chicks in the country. People who live there seem to truly like it. It's pretty far from Osaka and Tokyo though, so if you want to be close to a big city, there isn't anything huge around. Hiroshima is pretty close though, and Kyushu has some beautiful areas, so it may be good for you.
