If you want to sue your employer I hope you have deep pockets and a visa that will see you through the end of litigation. You are looking at maybe a year or two in court and the chances are high that you will lose.
Lawyers only take on cases they know they can win, they will want a big up front retainer and it will cost you more in lawyers fees than you hope to make back from him. If you lose you have to pay the schools legal fees as well.
There are actually no laws against racial discrimination in Japan and very little enforcement of people found guilty. If you really want to press ahead I can recommend a few people to get in touch with.

On top of that I can only gather that
1. you are not a native speaker of English
2. you are a young japanese female or male (judging by your defence of Japanese women)
Why do you need to fight a race discrimination suit in your own country? You are Japanese aren't you?

Paulh do you Teach English? If you do, your lucky. Your job is not hard as some foreigners who work different line than teaching. I am Japanese but its my friend who`s a foreigner that need help. We have different culture here in Fukushima than Tokyo. Some companies here dont accept foreigners here. Unless your line is teaching, and easy to make money.
Anyway I would like to thank you for you first messages.

And from an earlier post dated May 10, 2004.
I don`t think your not good enough to come here in Japan.
You foreigners are like a parasite. Looking for an easy money. Grabbing all you can get! Try a real job in your own country.
Quite a difference here. In one case you say that foreigners are like parasites, then you're willing to help one.
It confuses me how somebody that posted such a racist comment would bother to help a foreigner.

Its not luck its bloody hard work, lots of study. Just being able to speak English gets your foot in the door.
Anyone who has taught English for a long time here will tell you its not easy.
PI am Japanese but its my friend who`s a foreigner that need help. .
Is he a freeloading parasite that come to suck off Japanese women too?

No you just have more conservative redneck racist bigots in that part of the country. This whole country is full of closet racists.
Most companies cant accept foreigners here. thats why you have term contracts for full time university lecturers who are more qualified than Japanese professors. Press clubs that bar foreigners from gathering news. Shops and businesses that ban foreigners. Governor Ishihara (need I say more)

.
never met any people expect perhaps newbies or those on the JET program who have found making money here ot teaching English to be easy.

Actually, you're right, Fukushima is a different culture than in Tokyo, but it isn't that different. Living in Fukushima really isn't that difficult. I certainly never had any problems, and I was living as far out of a city as was possible. Could be that your friend gave reason for the employer to act in a discriminatory fashion.

DISAGREE!
A lawyer is CHEAP and relatively easy to find in Japan. I am surprised no one has mentioned LEGAL AID.
And as a matter of fact, Japan does have laws that make discrimination illegal.
What is the nature of your problem? How were you discriminated against?

Folks, why don't we give OP a chance to talk more about her/his friend's situation? I understand some of the criticisms directed at OP were justified; it is just that I still think it will be in our collective interest what OP's foreign friend's situation is like.
