View Full Version : What Is Scipio's Problem?

Now it's well-known among the regulars here at GaijinPot that one our residents has a bit of a "thing" for me specifically and my brethern from Canada in general. I feel it's my duty to try and help this terribly misguided individual see the error of his ways and correct his dysfunctional on-line behavior. So I took it upon myself to consult my esteemed colleague Dr. A.R.G.J. Apan for his opinion.
The good doctor took it upon himself to try and narrow it down to a few choices. He's kindly provided us with some information to try and make our own determination.
So, fellow GPers-what exactly is Scipio's problem??

Intellectual chipmunk??? If that's indeed intended as an insult it a rather convoluted one. Is he suggesting that, while unequivocally an intellectual, you physically resemble a chipmunk, or is he likening your intellect to that of a chipmunk? "Intellectual chipmunk" suggests a rodential organism with a library card, definitely above average in the brains department for such a creature. Then again, our friend Scipio has a rather odd way of putting things.
As for why our vitriolic friend has it out for us hosers, he seems to be a case of the "I hate almost everybody" phenomenon, and there just happen to be a disproportionate number of Canadians on this site, and we are, let's face it, annoyingly well-spoken and infuriatingly, well, correct in our view of the world. It's enough to make anyone want to drop the gloves, yank our jerseys over our heads and start up the lawnmower on our asses!

I agree. Didn't Alvin and his buddies always triumph over their nemesi?
PS what is a scipio, anyways?

Isn't that the infamous Scipio Africanus? He had a thing going with Hannibal (not of Lector fame) and his elephants. Seems that he was involved in more than the usual thuggery of most highly placed and influential Roman Senators and military geniuses.

Sounds sexy, in a disgusting, Roman Bestial kind of way.

Looks more like Karl Rove's latest attempt to get the American people to rate Bush's job performance.
What the h- do you want argybargy man?
aha yes

I didn't vote. You should have made an "Other" box. I think Scipio just razzes Canadians cuz everybody knows they're pushovers. But I must say he appears so totally shocked that you went proactive on his ___ with this poll and word processor handiwork that he's posted a confused counterattack over in the Non-English Forum...in English.
"five knuckle shuffle"...heehee..."intellectual Jack Russell"...heeheeHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!!!!!
That's good stuff.

About 15 minutes. What's the creepy part-that I took the time to write it or the range of his comments?

It's a stupid poll argybargyman--gives the typical stupid polls at gp a bad name.

You don't own your own thread. You can't even take responsibility for it enough to have anything intelligent to say about how stupid it is.

Fine-let the flame fest begin! I'm all up for it, but remember what happened last time Nicky? You had your little hissy-fit melt-down over Christmas where you scurried about screaming about the "r*pe gang". Remember that? And how your name got magically changed to "Nick Halliday-Temporarily Banned"? Funny, I don't remember that happening to anyone else. I should have posted the messages I got from other GPers on that one-we were all wondering if you had lost your mind.
But now we know you have. Patience, Nicky-your poll will come. No need to try and rush things now.

Oh, J.T's poll--how many people responded? The same number as the hairs in J.T's front teeth?
Remember argybargy, when I pay attention to you I'm really ignoring you and vice versa.

Wow, you've been ignoring me a lot in the last half-hour then.
I love how I've gotten under your skin. You've got a great, big button that's so easy to push it's irresistable.
*Waits for the response that will come from Nicky 10 seconds after he "ignores" this post*
You are pedestrian in your predictability, Charles.

Now i'm really ignoring you, you see?
Oh, and what power you have, too. You know who I am--and I don't know who you could possibly be. Oh it's killing me, it's killing me. The illusion that argy is a real person is the pain. The illusion is the pain.

No comments on Scipio, but I'll agree with Arg when he suggest that Nick Halliday Temporarily banned was a much better username than Nick Halliday.
He won't read this of course as he is ignoring me.

But still you had to say it, didn'ya! You musta bin desperate to hit 1,000 before breakfast!
As for me, I find it difficult to choose between Arg and Scipio. I really can't decide whether it was more creepy and stupid to dredge up that first collection of quotations from so many past posts (carefully omitting any material which might contribute to a different impression) in the hope of discrediting the poster concerned; or to retaliate by doing exactly the same creepy and stupid thing. I think each collection said more about the collector than about the quotee.
Anyway, keyboards at the ready and may the best potter win.

A few words:
Zap - right on the mark.
Ed Ob - hardly spent any time at all on it actually.
Soba;
The reasons for this (like it matters);
A) I had a bit of time on my hands yesterday morning and was bored;
B) I had a laugh while I was doing it;
C) Apparently, so have some of the people that have posted.
D) The guy had a post history of about 110 when I did it. Nothing creepy about that. We're not talking paulh post proportions here-I have neither the time nor inclination to pursue it that far.
And the point of it all is that Scippy, who took some comments I made about British Immigration months ago as some sort of besmrich to his honor and decided to turn into a holy warrior over the matter and has taken it way too far. Long after the others who disagreed with me on the thread in question have forgotten it, he keeps carrying on about Canadians and me constantly. Most of the time I ignore it, but this is my way of saying that it's old, it's tired and it's time for him to drop it. But he's another one that just doesn't know when to quit. Doesn't know when to let things go.
I'd say that someone who's devoted somewhere around 10% of his post count to flaming one person, and another 5% or so the country where that person comes from has got the problem-not me.
Then again, I suppose we all have our own Taffimoto to bear, don't we?

That's a fair point. I saw him trying to provoke you in the thread about teenage girls.
