Is everyone one aware of this law? Starting from this April, the sale of most used electronic goods will be prohibited by law. English/Japanese briefings are here: http://homepage3.nifty.com/tsato/terms/denan-e.html

What a load of BS. As if those f###whits in the government couldn't come up with any stupider ideas

It's pork for the owners of the manufacturing companies dressed up as a way of stimulating the economy under the thin veil of a pretext about domestic electrical safety.

Don't you think the idea of systematically fingerprinting gaijin is stupider?

This should stick the wind up the recycling system in Japan.
From what I can understand on the official website it only applies to older appliances

Actually "stupid" isn't the right word, I think. Perhaps "fecking evil" is better.

The politicians have been porking the owners of the manufacturing companies dressed up as Shirley Temple and Judy Garland, which is apparently a way of stimulating the libido under the thin veil of a pretext about art and the free expression of human sexuality through song and dance.
Soba

Sorry, but that sounds like another internet blog conspiracy theory to me.

Is it stupider or more stupid?

Seriously, I am confoozed now.

i hate to see what is going to happen since of course electrical auto-erotic devices are not covered in the new bill... henceforth the market is going to be glutted with used vibrators, electrical buttplugs etc etc....

Tell me about it, eku.

You are totally on the ball, girlfriend! The gay appliances are always the first to suffer.

BTW does anyone know where I can pick up a gay hairdryer in Tokyo? I've looked everywhere.

Isn't he the guy who stands in the corner at the hair dressers? and when it is his turn he comes over with hot towels and then he dries your hair?

Just seach for PSE Japan on the web, you'll find that there are many confused companies and individuals out there, and that many were fooled by an article on Akihabara that appeared in the media on Feb 25th.

Hmm, somehow I don't think that will ever happen. I mean, would you give up YOUR auto-erotic device?? I didn't think so. ;-)

I wonder how the fingerprinting scheme will work anyway. Do they just round up all the gaijin and ask for the fingerprints? What happens if we 'forget' ... are we asked to leave?

Now's the time to hit the recycle shops! There's bound to be deals found as they try to unload everything before the law takes effect.

I think Stone-cold is in the right of it. It is just a way of ensuring that the manufacturers sell more new stuff and it will mean even bigger piles of crap dumped at the roadside all over Japan. Don't these twats ever stop to think before they implement yet another short-sighted, destructive law?
Sheesh!
PS might mean more freebies lying around for us poor gaijin.
