Well seems like you are asking for a lot. If you can find some sites that handle those please post it because actually there are none. Japanese subtitles are only added to films that are going to be shown here and that is basically done here by specialized Japanese companies. So on the web you might a few but you will probably have to wait until they have been released here.

Dont care if they have already been released.

download the winmx with a recent path, do the setup.
when the connection is ready (green light) click on the search tab.
In the new window select the tab "video" type the title of the movie u r searching better if u type in the japanese title.
if u r not searching for any specific movie type 映画 (eiga) in the search field and choose the one you want to download.
This is a p2p software make sure u have something to share in your share folder.
No registration required.

So everyone in japan just buy the dvds? No single geek to put subtitles to foreign films? The internet is full of subtitles for other languages!!

Well I really dont know how to find English movies with japanese subtitles, I have been to mininova.org and piratebay- typed in shinsen subs- whatever that means? Japanese subtitles in english and Japanese and cant find much. Some of the sites highlighted above- didnt seem to get me anywhere. Does anyone know where to get them and can they walk me through how u do it.

This is a pain as I wanted to put them on my ipod then plug that in to a TV and watch movies with my girlfriend while traveling. Now it looks like I will have to buy a mini DVD player and take 15 or so DVds with me. Lot more space.

maybe there are a few on this site:

http://www.divxtitles.com/allmovies/Japanese/any/1

Also you mention taking dvds with you. I am in the US and would like to find some movies in English (preferably american movies) with Japanese subtitles. Any suggestions about where I might find any?

I hope you enjoy your travels!

One option is to download full DVD rips, and just make sure they have Japanese subtitles in the menu options. Of course this means usually 9 gig files......

try searching for '日本語 字幕' might turn something up, but that would mean the upload and download would both be in Japan.
alternatively, search for some J-movies with english subs. sure she'd appreciate that anyway

I recently found the bucket list j subs on
subscene and through it on the dvdrip....the subs matched up perfectly :-)
I usually end up dling the E subs and throwing them on.

Check out www.tv-links.cc

They got loads of Japanese, korean, Indian and chinese movies as well as the latest currently showing at cinemas..
Good for tv shows also...

Natch its the local Jmovies that are only subtitled. So you have to do the reading....You cant win them all..Theres a few hollywood movies dubbed in russian/french italian etc...should she be multilingual, and i dont mean just in the bedroom...boom boom..!

For the ultimate guide
check out ov-guide.com

At the top, type in the movie you want and a whole array of sites will come up showing it. You`ll need firefox..

Let me know how you people get on...!!

I'Ve been having the same problems

to52
posted a post that was advertising and I deleted it. However, let me explain something about that post to52 was claiming that he paid 700 yen for the film "Wanted" and how it was such a great copy etc. Well the act of paying for a downloaded film has to be about the dumbest thing anybody can do. The person running that site, obviously downloaded that film at no cost to him except for bandwidth, next he bought a set of blank DVD's and you can buy them 50-100 in a box for about 1,000 or less. Ok so far? Next he converted the film using a computer program again at no cost(even if he paid for such program), next he burned the film again using a computer program-at no cost. Now this person has a website were he sells such Films for abut 700 yen and mailing charge to dumb people. So lets say he gets 10 people to buy his films at 700 x10 he makes 7,000
on a film he downloaded off the internet. Now I am a downloader, but I do not sell the films I get off the net. It is people like this guy doing this that gets Governments and organizations out to bust/sue all downloaders.

To the poster to52,
I looked at your profile and I see it must be you running that website, you post the gaijinflix crap again and I will see to it not only that you are banned, but that you get reported for piracy.

Most likely ripped from DVDs rather than someone translating and typing them out.. I used to do this when I used a PC. Now Im on a mac and have no idea what the first step is, so I encode whole movies. Also, sometimes with those subs there are timing issues, so they dont all work perfectly.

Don't mind me just jumping on a subscription.

I'm probably the only guy looking for the opposite: J-movies in 日本語 w/ English 字幕。

I used to live near a 'Popeye' and I would just burn their DVDs and audio CDs. Can't do that anymore.

You can also find Japanese srt. files at www.nowsubtitles.com

There is no way to just search for a list of japanese titles but files are available for recent TV shows and movies.

English movies with the japanese titles can also be downloaded using CABOS. Video and audio quality can be a bit hit and miss for the newer movies but the titles are good.

I'm not a big fan of downloading movies..in my case, I go to ニコニコ動画 (Nico Nico Douga) and simply search for [映画]. BF and I have enjoyed many Japanese-subtitled/dubbed movies this way. Registration required though.

Other than Popeye and Tsutaya, are there other DVD rental stores?

It would be good if there are DVD swapping services...

Anyway, for those who may prefer to buy it.

barnis
2009-03-28, 07:17 PM
NTT FLETS is not an ISP they just provide the connection...you still need another company to provide the actual Internet service. Its a weird system but here in Japan they separated the companies that provide the actual internet from the (essentially monopolistic) NTT who provides the actual line to the house. It's the ISP that can and often does throttle the connection speed.
