who gets Letter of Release?

I'm trying to get a letter of release from a company that has a little bad blood with me. They are asking for my new employer's address so that they can send it to them (along with a nasty letter I'm supposing). I was under the belief that they should send it to me. Can anyone clarify who should receive the letter of release?

I've had 2 employers give it to me. There's no reason for your old employer to get in contact with the new one.

anyone hear of someone not getting a visa cause they didnt have one?

I never got a letter of release and immigration never asked for one...but maybe I was lucky...
