Went to the Japan Today forum - dont contribute as there are some damned annoying posters there - and looked at posts by skanster. Saw a post that was also used on gaijinpot.com
Theres my detective work. Have to disagree with the brother`s comments about gaijinpot - give me this forum anyday to the little snotnose posters on Japan Today.

Sad to say, the Lifelines column in The Japan Times actually mentioned japantoday.com as a place to go for information from teachers in Japan! I'm in the process of composing a letter to that columnist to set her straight on that mistake, as well as in the other thin info she provided.

Japan Today is a tabloid rag. They constantly mistranslate Japanese quotes in the most sensationalistic way possible. They tell lies and half truths, only post the most incendiary responses in their popvox polls, etc. The ugliest face of journalism.
The posters there are, with a few exceptions, snotty brats. I avoid Japan Today like the plague.

Japan Times LifeLines regularly copies original threads from gaijinpot and pretends that they are letters addressed to them, with minor changes of names. I have pointed this out before, and have seen quite a few this year. Many of the solutions or answers they give are vague or not even practical answers, such as always recommending the same expensive Immigration Counselors, and are beyond the means of many here. Others seem no more than free advertising for their friends.
They are probably worried about liability for incorrect answers!

TH, can you give an example? I believe you, but I'd like to actually see it.

Pity this didn't come up earlier - I cleared out all the old press clippings at the end of the year. Ones that I can remember, probably because I answered them include:
1) guy from Melbourne setting up a company
2) visa overstay - getting an air ticket
3) English speaking psychiatrist
They seem to have come out in the JT 10 days - 2weeks after their initial posting on gaijinpot. Might start to collect them now!

Agree with 2pac - some of those posters seem to like putting on a superior air. Having 'super members' with names like 'immortal', like they're trying to create an upper class of gaijin who just happen to have been here longer, who are 'all knowing' and god strike you down if you disagree. Give me the dudes, unkys and bluedogs any day!

Ahh but it is getting better. Hahahaha
I wonder why!?!?
Maybe that is why GP is ressuscitationg my old threads they had deleted?!?!
No poo mouth.
No sledging individuals.
but at least JapanToday.com abides by thier own policies.
And the web application is BY FAR SUPERIOR.
The last time i met one of the dweeb GP owners
I said "Why dont you guys promote yourselves w/ a publication?"
he replied "we have a secret weapon coming. I cannot talk about it know but we will soon have something better than Metropolis."
-- Notice the double quotes. For that is the honest truth.
Truth is if I ever get a day off w/ free time I plan to file a small claims suit against GP. For slander (in conflict with their own published policy).
[hr]It is likely they will edit this post too but whatever... my site is coming.
and then it will be a 2 way street Hahahahaah(with my best wicked laugh)

the site is not yet up. I will buy the server in June and do installs here at home and from there co-locate it in some datacenter hopefully by august.
I must give props to the gaijin pot members though... they are incredibly more insightful and intelligent posters here.

U lefft out sexxy and lusid. And vissscoussss. And lascivious.
But thats not important right now
please ban me as pre-emptive meassurr from your new decanter wbsite.
Personally, I like F*cked Gaijin. Too much petty arguing on here......which is a shame, because I have gotten some real helpful advice from GP guys in the past. I love that you all get so heated over comments from silly people like westsan. He is OBVIOUSLY totally enjoying winding people up, and that people actually rise to the bait kills me.
Lighten up! Make me laugh!

"Too much petty arguing on here......"
Nothing wrong with some good petty arguing. What would this place be like without it? Like watching some japanese soap opera where everyone gets along great every day and trades helpful cooking tips. It's when the arguing gets serious that people really get upset.
Even when it's obviously a wind-up, sometimes it's worth saying something. When someone releases an onslaught of ___-logic, leaving it uncommented is in a way like letting it blend in, and lending credibility to something that does not deserve it.
A wrong statement needs to be taken care of, which is why I keep all my wrong statements in my pants in the hope that someone will.
okey dokey!!!keep on fighting and insulting~that DOES make me laugh!!What else do you keep in your pants?!

Bluedog - you were asking for examples of Tokyo LifeLines taking material from gaijinpot - well, look at today's Japan Times. Both the first and third topics on vehicle inspection in English and divorce resources were taken from last week's GP, though oddly enough crcjapan focuses on child custody, not divorce per se - a pretty poor answer from the "experts", and it is odd that such an important topic is relegated to just a few lines, compared to half a column of minor changes in US embassy passport processing for kids. Different priorities I suppose.
