I've never furnished my own home in Japan before... How much should I expect to spend for a double futon and sheets, and a small washing machine? I've been looking online but I have no clue if the prices I've found are good or not.... is budgeting 30,000 for the washing machine reasonable? And I have no clue about the futon....

Thanks, but actually I was wondering what I could expect to pay for those items new? Since I'm going to be there hopefully for MANY years, I really want nice things that will last, save money in the long run, etc.
Although if new prices are too expensive I might look for used things... still, I don't want to buy anything from anyone before I know what the standard department store prices are.

Washing machine new 6kg Hitachi 85,000 yen Mitsubishi 7 kg 100,000 yen, 8kg Hitachi 94,000 yen, National 8kg 102,000 yen, Sanyo 8kg 140,000 yen, National 5.5 kg 50,000 yen, 4.3kg 20,000, 4.5 kg Samsung 15,000 yen, 5kg Samsung 20,000 yen, 5kg Sanyo 25,000 yen
These prices are from a flyer for a store called kojima. I have been told that this store is one of the cheapest stores to shop at. You can find used washing machines usually starting at about 8000 yen with the larger ones going for under 20,000 yen at second hand stores.
Refrigerators start at 12,000 yen new (bar size) and go all the way up to 200,000 yen. My fridge is 275 litres. A new one costs about 60,000 yen but mine was only 12,000 yen used from a second hand store (delivery was 1500 yen).
A western style double bed starts at 40,000. You can buy futons with sheets and comforter in sets for about 15,000 yen. (double size)

Well I'm DEFINITELY going with the futon, for a variety of reasons... that price is very good! Wasn't expecting washing mashines to be so much tho... although I also probably don't need a very big one. No family or anything, I can do laundry every day if I have to, just dont want to deal with laundromats. Thanks!
