I'm interested in buying a NTSC/PAL video player.
Can anyone recommend somehwere to pick one up, possible ballpark figure wrt price too would be great too

Samsung Multisystem VCRs are probably the best buys at the moment - Akihabara - maybe \35,000.

I bought an AIWA TV Video combo muti system in Akihabara around 5 years ago back then it was 43.000 yen

Samsung is a Korean maker and yes they are not bad. Like trip_hop said Akihabara.

you can get a portable one for less than 30,000 yen. panasonic LA-95 for example. go to akihabara duty free places.

You can get a basic multi-system player from theflyingpig.com for around 15,000 or you can get them from Costco.
If you are from a Pal country make sure they are ntsc/pal changeable. Some sold here are only NTSC.

Think he means VCR by video player, LA-95 is a DVD player. The Samsung model VCR converts and outputs all formats straight out of the box.
