Now now, Japanese seem to like the Mega Mac? I have not eaten in McDonalds in three years ... and this certainly will not make me go. Who eats this kind of stuff? have tried Mega?

McDonald's extends Mega Mac campaign to meet demand

Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at 12:41 EST http://www.japantoday.com/jp/news/dbfiles/news/5000.jpgTOKYO — McDonald's Japan announced Tuesday that sales of the new Mega Mac for the first four days since its debut have far exceeded the expected amount of 1.68 million burgers with 3.32 million sold.
Mega Mac, a hamburger with four patties, was originally to be a limited time offer, but the fast food chain announced that it will extend the period in order to meet the demand.

Me.

Tastes like a Big Mac, but you have to open your mouth wider.

As you know by sucking down noodles, breathing at the same time completely changes the taste.

By having to contort your mouth to fit around it, the taste becomes more like tree bark, broiled to perfection over an open flame.

Funny...
How many can you eat?
I think you cannot beat the world champion of hamubruger eating...

WTF this must be only in Japan. I've never seen it in the US.

And no, I don't plan on trying it.

Betcha it is not much bigger than a North Mrkan Big Mac.

Don't you think the standard Jpn Big Macs are smaller?

I ate one the other day. Pretty good.
350yen or 380yen or so.
I got a coupon to get one for 190yen as well :)

It was actually surprisingly easy to eat. I dont think the patties contain much to fill you up.

I doubt the US would dare try to upsize thier servings for a while after the 'supersize me' fiasco a couple of years ago.
I could never see the problem here. Fat people shouldn't ask for supersize fries!. Thinner people should have the choice to eat what they bloody well want.

It actually existed for a while in North America in certain markets back in the 80's & 90's. Of course back then it was known as the "Double Big Mac". And in the 90's there was the short lived "Mega Mac" which I think only existed in Texas. This would have been the same as a regular Big Mac, but would have used the patties from a Quarter Pounder on a slightly larger bun.

And no, I never tried either one.

Mega Mac?

WTF?

It really is not surprising that the Japanese swarm to this. Let us take a few things into consideration:

1. It's Western.
2. It's kawaii....or however you spell it.
3. It's machismo....dude FOUR patties...you must be strong!
4. It's the same freaking burger the McD's has sold for years.....but yet...it is NEW! Just like Asahi or Kirin making the same beer that they have brewed for years...putting it in a new can....and calling it....guess what? NEW!
5. New is better!

Lemming mentality at it's best.......and worst.

Tried it but I found the MacGrande they sold a few years back a lot harder to eat.

The Mega Mac has 754 Kcal. If you take a set with fried potatos S and chicken (5pcs) the calories become 1300 without the drink.

One adult (Japanese) needs 1800-2200Kcal/day

i TRIED to get one, just to say i ate atleast one, but they told me at the locatin i went to (kawaguchi, next to warabi sta.) that they didnt have any, and presented me with a coupon for one later at Y190. i asked why they didnt have any, and i didnt really understand the response, yet they had plenty of regular big macs there, if they have the 2 patty kind but not the 4 isnt it the exact same thing??

how can they have one of the same thing, but not of the the other exact same thing?? i should have just gotten 2 big macs and performed mega-mac surgery on the counter right there. but that would be downright nutty.

then the super cheap coupon would just increase demand no??

again, how can they have big mac, but not mega mac? what is the reasoning?!?!?!

Deer,

Mcdriveby's are how McAlpine's sisters settle family disputes over that month's welfare cheques, or Structured Reparations, as they are now called.

I think you mean McDriveThru's.

I remember they had these for a limited time back in the states (California) around '97 or so. During this period, you could get a value meal with 2 of the bastards. We used to go get our fill after basketball practice for a cool $5 a person. Good stuff for poor high school kids. Nowadays, that would just go straight to my gut so I shan't dare to risk it right before shirtless thong season.

I went with a Japanese friend who ordered one, and had no idea what to do with it. He couldn't even manage to pick it up. He finally rationalized the best way to eat it was to eat the top half first, then the bottom half later. I used to think it was strange when people here would compliment my hamburger eating skills. I guess it truly is an art.

Loved it, loved it, yeah!!

From reading through this thread, I wonder, if I am the only one, who brings his stuff from McD home, puts it nicely on a plate and eats it properly with knife and fork (no big bites, of course)? No-one else here doing this?

Why some people pray for 5 minutes over something they find in the dumpsters?

This is truely a mystery, and it has a lot to do with McAlpines Sisters let me tell you.

I mean do you know how difficult it is to get a female to go out after dark for a Value Meal or a Little Ceasar's Crunch 'n Munch, well let me tell you on behalf of McAlp himself, dem females ain't worth a shiiat, especially on the streets of downtown Detroit after dark, I mean them's the times when womenfolk need be servin' their manfolk but not these dames.

No way, they just be wantin' to feed their own fat faces.

No dignity whatsoever.

Let em starve.

Well, if they get Ebiyuri to pose for a poster where she sticks that thing in your mouth, I want that. That is far as my interest in this goes.

I can never disagree with someone who eats a MEGA MAC.
I love to swallow those well-proportioned beef paties. The thing is that I find it intimidating to hit the plush rounded edges of my westernized toilet seat, just after consuming two with my restless buns.

I am always captivated insatiably by the watery swirl of my bowl though.
The captivating moment the water plunges deep into the ground heading towards the unknown.
A fabulous time whenever I use my Japanese facilities.

I was sober when I wrote this.:)

When in Japan, unsympathetic vacationers head over to Mc Donald's, in a bee-line for an affordable meal.

Most vacationer's drop to the floor when they see the prices in the urban cafe's of Tokyo:confused:

I'm an idiot. Never again.
No one in the small train station McDonalds I went to was eating one except me.
It fell apart and was messy as people were watching me scornfully.
How much chicken feces do they feed cows anyway?

Tribbles breed very quickly, and don't really require food (as I recall), so they'd be a great way of making cheap burgers.

Cute, cheap burgers.

Do Tribbles bounce?

Do Tribbles bounce?
Tribbles can do many things.
Of course Tribbles aren't as widely known as they should be, after all, Tribbles are everywhere. So much so that we scarcely notice the poor buggers.
Have you ever wondered where missing guitar picks go?
You guessed it, the Tribbles.
What happens to all those socks that leave a lonely and widowed partner behind?
You're right again, the bleeding Tribbles.
Why do dust kitties gather under our beds and behind wardrobes?
Well, the bloody Tribbles herd them there, don't they?
What happened to the last Quality Street chocolate you KNEW was left in the box?
You're right again, those sneaky goddamn Tribbles.

Many people believe that Tribbles need very little feeding. But what really happens is that the little buggers are feeding themselves.
Many things can be blamed on the Tribbles. Global warming, for example. Tribbles are known to pass gas more frequently and more violently than any sheep or cow. Greenhouse gases should rightfully be known as Tribble gases.
The dopplar effect can also be blamed on the Tribbles.
As ambulances pass us on the street, the Tribbles suck the soundwaves out of the air, causing that strange audio-glitch where the sound changes pitch.
Do the world a very big favor and eat a Tribble today.

At 69.8 kg, I think I`m at liberty to down the occasional burger every now and then, so that`s a yes from me.
The question is, connoseuirs query, is how does it compare to a Wendy`s quadruple cheese burger with bacon!? Had one of those the other day... I immediately felt several major organs contort painfully.

I've pared down to 88 kgs, so I might have to try a Wendy's double soon.

That's Canadian size, so about a Jpn Quintuple?

Did they show on TV that eating two hamburgers a day will make you lose weight?
wow, go Japan, beat the record!

McDonald's Japan sales break record

Friday, February 9, 2007 at 07:20 EST TOKYO — McDonald's Holdings Co (Japan) said Thursday sales in the 2006 business year to Dec 31 came to a record 441.5 billion yen, breaking a record for the first time in five years. The company said a new strategy involving the 100-yen Mac has proved positive.

McDonald's said it drew in more customers by marketing a healthier image, such as by offering more chicken and salad dishes.
McDonald's in 2005 introduced a burger deal for 100 yen which was credited with bringing in new customers but until now keeping profits down.
McDonald's said it also kept more restaurants open around the clock, raising the number of jobs it had to pay but competing with Japan's popular chains of 24-hour convenience stores.
McDonald's Holdings Company Japan predicted net profit would nearly triple in the current year to 4.5 billion yen, on higher revenue of 375 billion yen.
"The company will continue to focus on our core hamburger business," it said in a statement. "McDonalds Japan can achieve sustainable growth by enriching its menu and investing in our restaurants to provide customers with places according to their lifestyle."
But it warned of risks ahead, including fierce competition from convenience stores and said outbreaks of mad cow disease and bird flu could scare off customers.
