Recently Ive moved to Tokyo. I have a descent Sony Trinitron TV. Im looking to sign up for some English channels. I was told I cannot simply order channels, I need to by a newer TV. Is this correct?

You have two choices:-
1. Find an old Sky Perfect satellite box.
2. Connect via the internet. I have a mate who does it. I'll see him tomorrow and get back to you how it does it.
The trend is to buy one of the new TVs with the satellite decoder within it.
Just bought a new flat screen TV today, Sharp Aquos 32 inch, for only Y175,000.
Get out there and treat yourself.
Don't buy Sony!
