View Full Version : Jgirl makeup: how do they look so flawless?

I think some Jgirls are the prettiest Ive seen in the world --- even compared to the prettiest American (of any race), Italian or French. My friend (who has also been to Japan) and me wonder what they look like when they wake up? Is their skin really that pale after just using whitening products? Or is it a very thick layer of white foundation??? It's almost unreal how porcelain their skin is and I dont remember seeing many girls with dark circles, mustaches, face stubble, moles, sunspots, etc. Besides shaving their face and spending an hour on makeup, what else do they do?
Dont use makeup myself and I just cant figure it out.
Will someone please enlighten me? Thanks.

Less Mcdonalds?
A lot of Japanese eat McDonalds that's why there are a lot of fat people in Japan now, so much so that the government had to write a statement about the rise in obeasity in Japanese youth.
Also the it's a myth that grease gives you bad skin .. is just that a myth.
& Kaptian Krispy I think it's wrong of you to say that any Japanese girl is prettier than the prettiest Western girls. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but there are ugly people in Japan too ... damn have I seen some ugly J-girls .. of course there are many beautiful ones as well .. but saying that any J-girl is prettier than any western girl is a very wrong assesment.

She did say "some Japanese girls," not all.
Kaptain, the make-up thing may be part of it, but the Japanese girl I wake up next to just has naturally beautiful skin. She has a few beauty marks, but I like that. There are also a few things I noticed she does differently from girls back home. One is in the bath she takes a quite rough towel, puts soap on it and scrubs pretty hard everywhere. I think this probably rejuvenates the skin and takes all the dead stuff off.
She also lives pretty healthily, getting exercise and being careful not to overeat or overdrink. When you're healthy, your skin has that nice glow to it.
Never seen her shave her face, btw, though I suppose she could be hiding something...

She's still putting her own personal opinion in. There's no fact stating that japanese woman are prettier than western woman or vice versa.
Well anyways, as for their skin, I think that you're either born with good or bad skin. I have seen both western and japanese woman with beautiful skin, and the same goes with ugly skin. Some people are acne prone some are not, some people are born with moles some are not. O personally have been blessed with nice clear skin .. i have a few beauty marks on the side of my face, but beauty marks are not ugly imo. My husband is asian and has dry skin .. so yeah it doesn't depend on race it depends on genetics.
& i agree with 5 elements .. haha i have never seen any j-girl shave her face ... girls share secrets w/ other girls and all my j-girl friends dont shave their faces .. i mean do a lot of woman have that much hair on their face? ...

Actually if you wanna see flawless skin, I think Korean girls would have Japanese girls beat hands down.
Skin care products are really high quality in Japan, I can honestly say that my skin condition improved drastically when I started using them. Also, many Japanese girls get their faces shaved at este salons, believe it or not! And lastly, Japanese girls with pale skin tend to protect themselves from UV rays, but even Japanese and most Asians who get a tan will still look fine because their skin is just better adapted to that than most Westerners.
Makeup and foundations are high quality as well. And women's fashion magazines regularly showed step-by-step diagrams on how to do makeup and what products to use, which make account for fewer girls looking sloppy in their makeup. Lipsticks tend to be glossier and on the sheer side which also prevent the lips from looking too heavy on the face.

I like Jcosmetics especially Albion. Any other brands you recommend?
You're right Ive seen Korean girls who would put many pretty Jgirls to shame.
I bought foundation to try in Japan - in comparison with what I usually use (Channel), it gives a matte, porcelain type of finish... it is also a lot more dense than most of european foundations I used.

finally, a subject I am an expert on!
Japanese women are the most beautiful women in the world, according to me.
They tend to be more petite and have smoother skin. Western women tend to be bigger (and fatter) and get wrinkles at a much younger age. Western women are usually much bustier, which is probably why many men prefer western women, but I don't find a large chest to be all that attractive. IMO, b>a>c>d.
The two complaints I have about Japanese women are their teeth and their shaving habits. Americans get braces on their teeth if they're even slightly crooked, so adults usually have perfectly straight teeth and beautiful smiles. As for shaving habits, I'll leave that to you to figure out.
Oh yea, one more minor issue: calfs. Japanese women sometimes have very thick and strong calf muscles, probably from all the walking in Japan. I don't have a good solution for that, and I don't think loose socks is the answer.

Was this from a makeover site? Makeup works wonders and I guess you can't really tell how pretty a girl is until you've seen her barefaced. AAAGGGH.
Thanks for the reply ruserious. Yeah, while I do think many Jgirls have cute/beautiful faces, their legs and flat rears detract. The muscular calves are due to Asian genes. Many Asians do not need to work out/walk a lot to have thick calves and I read somewhere there's corrective surgery in J & Korea to slacken the calf muscle.
I think this French girl Alizee has a nicer body than most Jgirls. Her mannerisms are cute too and for some reason, her dancing and hand movements seem "Asian" to me thoug she is of Corsican stock.

what you describe as a 'flat rear' is one of the features I find most appealing about Japanese women.
I get to see way too many huge rear ends in the U.S.
As for the calf issue, I really hope the surgery thing does not catch on. It's such a minor issue, it's really not worth the pain/expense of surgery.

Thick calves dont look feminine IMHO and actually, I dont like men w/ thick legs either. Doesnt look "refined" to me.
As for the rear, I wasnt advocating a bubble
butt or "junk in the trunk" --- just enough to fill out a pair of jeans. people with flat butts look bad in jeans :(
Everyone has their beauty pet peeves.

Makeup works wonders
Truer words were never written. A somewhat funny story...
I was at a ryokan in Arashiyama with a friend of mine. We'd spent many nights together but usually at a regular hotel (with a separate bathroom). In this ryokan, the toilet was separate but the sink area was by the seating area. As I was getting ready, my friend was watching me.
He was so funny. After I finished, he was like speechless. His English isn't good to begin with but he was basically amazed by the fact that I could make my face look thinner by giving myself cheekbones (with blush of course). Based on his reaction, you'd have thought this qualified as one of the wonders of the world.
Made me laugh.

Actually, there's something incredibly, indelibly hot and beautiful about watching a girl put her make up on in the mirror. Impossible on a train, she needs to be in quiet surroundings without distractions. She concentrates on the small movements, aware that each is individually important yet only a part of the larger act, following a proper methodology and order she knows by heart and by rote--all in an act of creation.
It's like watching someone paint, or throw clay, or make any type of art. Her eyes are alive, but not overly so--the rest of her face devoid of all emotion, any tension there released so as not to mar the final product. The actions, like zazen, produce a calming effect on her. She comes out of the process as out of a meditation, a trance. There's no other time like it, not even sleep; it's the only time besides the throws of passion that you can see her true face.

I think most women could (if necessary)/can (when necessary) put their lipstick/lipgloss on without the aid of a mirror. Of course, it's good to look once finished...just to make sure. We know where our lips are and after years of practice, not too hard to do.
I was surprised the first time I noticed how...apparently interesting it is to some men. When I put on my lipgloss, my mouth is somewhat open/puckered-like. It's funny when men watch -- some actually start to mimic the pose...I'm assuming unintentionally. It's just fun to think about what they might be thinking about.
It's like when I watch salarymen on the train. A young schoolgirl catches a salaryman's eye. He looks her up and down...quickly closes his eyes...perhaps to fall asleep or more likely to do a little daydreaming. :)
As for the "almost" qualification, don't be discouraged. You just have to work a little harder. If it were THAT easy, there'd be no fun journey to the destination. ;) And have to add - few men have the ability to write "arousing" things. Women...I think many of us do. The whole verbal thing and all. So, you are to be commended...and about such a girlie thing too. Well done.

After this comment, I had to drink beer, fart, eat pork rinds and watch football for four hours just to reassure myself...

hey more info on that calf muscle thing! I have HUGE calve muscles (not Asian though), I think in Japanese they might be called "shishamo-ashi" even...thick and round at the top then thinly tapered at the ankle....like the shape of a shishamo! The look okay from the side but I hate how the look from the front view.
Well, I guess having shishamo-ashi is still better than getting daikon-ashi.

the latest fashion trend of wearing knee-high black socks with shorts doesn't help the big calf problem. Still, it's better than having all the women wear pants. Yuck.
Many Japanese women have beautiful legs, so I like the kneehighs with shorts. (I just wish they'd replace the shorts with a skirt. That would be really sexy.)

I have to disagree with you person.:o) we both know there are some men who can write things to knock your socks off and make you go "oh wow". Certain men are certainly able to seduce you with their words. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Women tend to be freer with their emotions. For men sometimes it takes a couple of drinks to make them open up about what's on their minds, but some no. Sometimes you can get carried away, but sometimes things are right on track. I find guys tend to write songs or play music about what they're thinking rather than actually say things. Makes it a little bit easier for them I think. I am writing about my recent adventures in Nara, but I highly doubt they are arousing. Amusing perhaps, very strange, informative, maybe educational even, but hardly arousing. I'll let you know if it actually gets picked up. You never know; look at the guy who wrote about his dog Marley. My adventures have to be at least as interesting and no couches were destroyed for this purpose.

I don't think skin care products and/or makeup is any better - or worse - in Japan since...it's all basically the same (assuming you are buying good products in either country). Considering there is such cross-over in products (the big brands can be bought...virtually anywhere in the world), the same things can be had basically anywhere. "Japanese-only" brands are, in my experience, no different than comparable products (price, function, ingredients...if/when I can read them) in the US. One somewhat...disconcerting thing (in my opinion) are the number of things JP women buy into...at high cost...and with little proven benefit. The same is true everywhere of course; JP women just tend to pay a much higher price.
With science and technology where they are now, we have the benefit of cutting-edge ingredients in delivery systems unheard of years ago. That said, some of the stuff (whether good or bad I'm not sure) gross me out -- like the PLACENTA creams advertised here. UGH. I don't care that it is a pig's placenta...
So, bottom line -- I don't think JP products are any better/worse than others. I think they are, however, much too over-priced. I have a zillion (quite literally) cosmetics (Customs can attest to this). One of the best brands I've been liking recently is from Germany (bought from the US). Products with good ingredients (natural ingredients coupled with scientific ones) are the best in my experience. All nature, while perhaps better for you, don't have the desired effect (I'm thinking Burt's Bees or something like that).
Not the point of this thread but...just thought I'd add it to the discussion.

Is shaving shunned because it used to be the sign of a courtesan/prostitute? Just wondering if it's equated with that sort of undesirable activity.
This sort of surprises me really -- since "the bush" acts, to some degree, as a barrier (which can sometimes help with disease, etc.). Perhaps the men just wanted a look-see...to make sure there weren't any...yucky parts.

seriously. what do you look like when you wake up...a person. People don't sleep in makeup, so my guess is that before they get dressed...they apply makeup...with brushes and other tools. Probably not open commentary (I have never been to the women`s section in the sento), but probably looks and thoughts, and we all know how conscious women are about these things. Hell, they pay attention to other people while putting on makeup!).
I`d think the bush acts as a sort of psychological pseudo-clothing, and if it is not there, then well, she`d be the only one in the place who is naked.
I think it has more to do with hair down there being the sign of an adult than something which covers her up. But we can get Freudian all we want; in the end, to get the real data we'd have to ask the girls.

I go to hot springs a lot and these days there are plenty of women who are trimmed down there. Various age groups too, though probably more in the twenties/thirties. I didn't use to pay much attention until I kept reading about it so much on here, so I'm not so sure whether it's a recent trend. I'd say it has less to do with 'public baths' though and more to do with lingerie. That and swimming/going to the beach. If a woman wears skimpy underwear or is likely to be seen in a swimsuit/bikini, then she's probably more likely to trim the bikini line/delicate line. Both of these words are now in katakana and commonly used in hair-removing services at beauty salons BTW, though hair-removing cream from the drugstore tends to still be only for underarms and legs.

It's not McDonald that makes people fat but the whole eating habit. Salty snacks and soda, sugery pastries and canned coffee, too much carb......Eating in rush also causes over eating.
I agree with you, there are attractive and unattractive people in every country. But my two sons both say Japanese girls over-do on their makeups and hair-dos.
Another onsen story. I went on a camp with my boyfriend`s old university friends. It was the first time I`d been to Japan, I didn`t speak any Japanese and I was a bit freaked out. There was a lot of people - friends, friend`s of friends, girlfriends...I was having a hard time remembering names and people. Plus, needless to say, pretty much all the girls were gorgeous. When they went to the onsen I chickened out. My fella stayed with me and we chatted about his friends. I mentioned one girl who I thought was pretty and he was like `No, too much make up!`
It didn`t look like that to me. Anyway, I didn`t even recognise the same girl when she got back, make-up free from the onsen! I actually thought it was someone else who I hadn`t met yet. She was still pretty but she looked totally different.

The trend for women in their 20's outside of Japan is to be clean shaven or very closely trimmed (aka 'landing strip'). But Japanese women still haven't adopted that trend, which sets foreigners off their appetite a bit. (We like what we're "used to".) Blame/thank the Brazilians.
lingerie is a big player in that, I'm sure, and waxing is now a very common practice. I'm just wondering if it will take off in Japan anytime soon.
the hair used to act as a barrier, but with modern hygene it's really no longer necessary.
the prostitute issue is an interesting cultural twist that I hadn't thought of.

Didnt see that many schoolgirls while I was in Tokyo but the ones I saw usually were plain/chubby/thick legs. Not sure where the attraction is. A far cry from the pretty and well dressed 20 something Jgirls.
Jmen immature I guess. Hhhhhmmm. Some salarymen looked pretty good (dare I say HOTTIE), but seems like they've got cotton candy for brains :(
Jpeeps look good but didnt sense any real SEX APPEAL/warmth cuz being sexy/sensual requires something Jpeeps lack?!?!?
Jpeeps = Very Fine looking robots :-)
I think the typical salaryman is not obsessed with schoolgirls, of course some are, as are a bunch of akihabara nerds and even guys who post on this site.
BTW the thickness of a girl's legs probably has to do with what kind of sport she does or doesn't play. Volleyball and for some odd-reason table tennis-playing girls have thicker legs while basketball players tend to have slimmer legs.
Maybe you missed the sex appeal by watching too much from a distance and not interacting with people? Well I don't recommend sexual interaction with school girls but I mean just getting to know regular, good-looking people. Warmth to me is something that is a little more personal and I think a lot of people only show it to those they feel comfortable warming up to. Especially being surrounded by millions of people in Tokyo, I bet after living there for a few years, one would become more selective to those whom he/she is warm towards.

Have you tried Kurogane Formula 666?
Apparently it works like a charm, though all customers claim it is an acquired taste.
My naturally peachy complexion fortunately needs no help.
OK, I have a serious question.
Has anybody of you done eye lash curled extensions?
I know almost all Japanese girls do them but I think it is not reasonable for me - to extend your left and right eye with 50 lashes each costs 20,000 yen and 2 hours of time. Is it worth the time and the money, is it painful or unpleasant procedure? I mean do men notice the eyelashes of a girl at all??
Also my friend did a permanent makeup - it is an eyeline like a tattoo on the eye and a lip line. Is it painful to do? How long does it stay - several months?
Thanks for the answers.

did the eye lash extension and had no complaints. My other girl had her eyebrows tattooed on-it's ridiculous because you have to get touch up every other month. In California you'll spend about 4 and some change. Also, the ink starts to fade and if you have lighter skin, it will definitely show. But I can't talk because my hair bills are out of this world! The things women do to attract men....

thanks for detailed answer.
How long those eyelashes last, do you know? Because there is a special fee for taking them off at the beauty salon, when they become bad - 1000 yen per eye...
Thanks.
My coach in the gym goes to have laser treatment. It smoothes the skin, takes out the scars, wrinkles, blemishes, pimples, spots and makes the skin very good, she told me.
Also they can have procedures with collagen which is injected in the skin and massage with different vitamins and herbs. you can go to the beauty salon and you can have a facial there. If you do not want to pay money for the facial, you can buy a facial mask from the drug store, it is basically a soft sheet impregnated with lotion and cream that do wonders for the skin. This sheet has openings for the eyes only, you stick it to the face and stay with it 20 mins to 30 mins. But I recommend you not to do it in front of your boyfriend because he can get scared of you like that - anybody will look like a mnster with that mask on. You can use the mask one or two times per week. If you have a date, use it a few hours before the date, it will moisturize your skin and make it soft and moist and smooth. Also, there are different natural masks using honey, fruits and vegetables and oils for the face. You can find many recipes for skin and hair masks on the internet. I recommend you first to understand what type fo skin you have - oily or dry and to use substances that are good for your skin.

Not the point of this thread but...just thought I'd add it to the discussion.
interesting point, person.
I agree that japanese skin care products isn't any better or worse than in other country...BUT some products are better and made to suit the skin condition of asian women.
they have a surprisingly wide range of choices even under one single brand. as being overpriced, i guess you're talking bout the products sold in department store...right ?
most of women tend to think that the more expensive a product, the better it's supposed to be. well....i really don't think so...i used to be skincare products "freak"..haha..
the wide range choices including the wide range of prices also...which is sold much more cheaper in japan than in other countries..eg. kose. you could find the products from under 1000 yen OTC or the over 20,000 yen OTC also..or at depato. and the irony is the cheap one's not considerably worse than the other, depends on your skin condition, what' suitable for you. even the cheap line of maxfactor -made for japan only- are surprisingly....good. i've been using this for more than a year, no fuzzy treatment and no complaints. i got combination allergic kind of skin. the natural based product isn't always good for everyone, it never worked for me...yup, problematic condition.
even the not-so-famous brands are considerably good here...esp comparing the kind of products you can get w the same price in other countries.
well...that's only my personal experience.

Will someone please enlighten me? Thanks.
response to the OP..
dark circles, sun spot --concealer and foundation..funny, they got at least 3 colours of concealers to cover the flaws..green, yellow and brown :D but hm....is mole considered as a flaw for you ?
most of japanese girls spend hours in the morning for make up and hairdo before they step out of the door. look at the hair of those OL in the train!! man....in other countries, that'd be considered as a special occasion style..lol
and they're good in do-it-yourself thingy on make up and hairdo, thanks to bunches of gal magazines that publishing almost the same stuff in every edition..
BUT
if you look closer, good make up -yes, but not good skin condition..i hardly seen 'pretty' dolly gals w real flawless smooth skin..you can still see the open pores, blemishes..thanks to the overly thick foundation and concealer..maybe too much make up 'burdened' the healthy skin..
closer observation..you might be surprise to find that most of japanese housewives who don't do 'complete' make up --no time maybe-- actually have healthier and beautiful skin ;)

I have to disagree that the cosmetics in Japan is so ubiquitous. For example it is hard to find mascara with different colors than black and brown maybe because Japanese people have black eyes, I do not know. It took me forever to find the green color and it was so expensive.
Also forgot to mention that Japanese cosmetics creams contain a lot of bleaching that makes the face red and the skin irritated. Beware especially of that vitamin C - it gives me allergies and burns my face.

Never realized people thought Jgirls wore too much makeup. I certainly was not repelled by it. Seems they do a better job blending than American girls.
In any case, agree their personalities are very cute
and sweet, but I do wonder what ***lurks beneath the surface*** --- having been the recipient of a few glares from these sweet Jgirls.
for NNN:
Thank for the onsen story. Very cool how no makeup renders someone unrecognizable. I knew 1 girl at work who looked very pretty with makeup and wore it every day. One day, she showed up bare faced & I was a bit disappointed b/c she looked really washed out and less dynamic. Still pretty, but just not as attention grabbing.

No they don't contain bleaching agent. Most skin brightening cream contain safe alpha arbutin, vitamin c or kojic acid that only inhibit melanin production. Since hydroquinone is damaging to skin they stopped using it in most cosmetics. Vitamin c serum contains nothing but vitamin c and moisturizing agent. It goes by the strength 5% - 30%. Higher the percentage the stronger it get's naturally.

She was still pretty but she looked totally different.
what i can tell you is :
a good make up is the one that doesn't look like one.
corrective make up. using all shades of natural colours --skin colours-- and 'balancing' stuff on your face. eg. shadows to create higher nose, cheekbones, shape of chin etcetc.
guess that's what you saw in the onsen. they looked totally different without this kind of makeup, yet they don't look like they're wearing any make up when they actually did..

Higher the percentage the stronger it get's naturally.
ok, thanks for clarification, sounds you know so much about it.
maybe then I have allergic reactin to vitamin C, my skin becomes itchy and sensitive...
thank you.

Hi, Foxy!
I'm going to start using Vitamin C soon (have been a bit lazy and haven't used what I have here). My understanding is that products that have Vitamin C in it already are fairly...useless. Meaning, Vitamin C breaks down (loses its efficacy) if combined with anything. While some of this depends on the delivery agent, most Vit C products keep the Vit C separate from the delivery agent (making you mix right before use). Think of Philosophy or something like that.
I think this varies a bit but...for the most part, due to the properties of the Vit C, once mixed, it loses much of its "gusto" (so to speak).
As with any product, each of us is different so our skin will react differently...even with the same product over time. I personally have found a great line of skincare (from Germany). It's M. Asam. I'm REALLY liking it. It's apparently packed with many wonderful ingredients.
While I haven't been particularly impressed with Japanese brand skin care products/cosmetics, I have taken a liking to the FANCL brand. If you read about how that brand came about (a cult following after a husband was trying to help his wife's very troubled skin), it's quite interesting. DHC is pretty much crap as far as I'm concerned. Good for little girls but nothing to write home about (and ironically enough, it is now making its move in the US).
There are some really good brands out there - prices running the gamut. I won't pay excessively high prices but expect (and get) very good quality (one of the benefits of buying in the US and shipping here).
As in love, much of this is about trial and error...but good skin is SO worth it. This point was brought home even more after suffering from a short spell with acne (last week when my friend was visiting). I was HORRIFIED to see what happened to my skin. But then, stress does that, eh? Thank god for ProActiv ... and Jojoba oil (if you can believe that!!!).
wow, you all know so much about it :) where did you study these complex chemistry things :D? I feel so dumb among you professionals.
I watched a few days ago a TV show about the most beautiful woman in India - the Japanese tv wanted to find the most beautiful girl in India and they asked one Indian girl, who looked like a model, how long does it take for her to put make up, and she said 10 minutes. The Japanese women laughed because they do this for 2 hours ...
So I want to ask - as all cosmetic products contain some chemistry, is it good to use make up every day and all the time? The skin needs to breathe and to have free of make up time... I think the less make up - the healthiest skin.

I especially agree with your last point. When I'm not working/dating/etc., I do NOT wear makeup. Also, the first thing I do when I get home is wash my face.
That said though, people who don't wear anything on their face (makeup, products, etc.) tend NOT to have such good skin. Bad products can do harm; good products can be very beneficial. And to a very real extent, makeup protects our skin from a lot of damage (as would good skincare).
I do NOT believe putting on makeup should take a long time. I also believe the less makeup the better...or at least the look of less makeup. There are so many good brands out there that look very natural (in terms of appearance) but are actually doing so many good things for your skin.
It's been mentioned time and again that we (now in 2007) have so many technological advancements at our disposal...particularly in terms of cosmetics. That can be good...as well as bad. When I was going through my short stint of acne last week, I really had to just stop. I stopped all the products I was using to try and fix the problem and just put on the jojoba oil. Jojoba oil is the most like skin's sebum. It may seem counter-intuitive to put straight oil on your face when suffering from pimples. However, seemed to do the trick. Many of the products were drying out my face...if only from over-application.
Of course, when I did that, I didn't wear makeup and...I was able to relax. Let's face it, good skin (as with health) comes primarily from within (and genes). If you are stressed, eating badly, etc., it will manifest itself in your hair, skin, nails, etc. That's the first part.
From there, you can use good products to help continue what you've started from within. There's no secret there. Of course, if you are "cursed" with acne (as I know some people are), more extreme measures need to be taken. Thankfully I am not.
As I'm getting older, I'm taking a more active interest in this topic. Before, I would wear no makeup and look just fine. Now, I look fine but...I want to look better...and I can and do with the use of cosmetics (makeup and skincare).
What I'm finding now is that, if I find good makeup/skincare that DOESN'T take a long time, I'm more apt to use it...thus benefiting from it. If you have complex systems (I'm thinking of when I used Laszlo way back when), it just seems...difficult...not worth it. When I was younger, I had all the time in the world to do that kind of thing. Now, even if I had time, I don't want to be troubled with it. And you don't have to be. However, if you ARE willing to take some time, there are so many great things that can make such a difference.
Back to makeup though, there is nothing worse than an overly made-up face. And no matter what people say, up close it is NEVER good. That's how I judge whether my face looks good or not. Anyone can look good from far away. What about up close?
As I've said before, one of the funniest moments was when I was dating the Pakistani. He prefers women who don't wear makeup. One time when we were eating, he looked at me and said "Beautiful" (thinking I didn't have any makeup on). He was freaking out later that night when I was taking off what I didn't have on...couldn't figure out what it was. THAT'S good makeup.
Thank you very much, person, for the detailed explanation. It was useful to read your comments.
Now the trend is to the natural make up - the one that stays unnoticed and as if you do not use make up... But I prefer dramatic effect sometimes for the eyes.

If you like to wear a lot of eye makeup (tastefully done I'm sure), have you ever tried UDPP (Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion)? It's the GREATEST THING EVER!!! My mascara (even waterproof) used to go on my eyelids. NEVER AGAIN!! This stuff is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone, especially those with oily lids, really need this stuff...especially those living through Japanese summers!!

I happen to agree... Japanese ladies are arguably prettier than American women. Not in just appearence, but personality as well.

I'm sure you are a lovely girl. Your picture has a heavy emphasis on your chest. Breasts aside, the things god gave you are probably equally lovely as well...though perhaps harder to assess.

As I said, calling yourself pretty doesn't really count. And let's face it, that's what you were intending to imply by asking if he'd seen your picture (you were offering your picture as a "pretty Western girl").
Again, commenting on one's self doesn't really carry much weight as it matters more what the "beholder" thinks.
Perhaps you were just asking for feedback? Which would have been the primary purpose anyway, right?
You're a lovely girl. There, I established it. Pretty Western girls DO exist...

Not much chance of him getting bail then and he's expected to stay in custody until the trial.

I always felt that a lot of "whiteners" worked more like "brighteners." I actually used Shiseido's UV White line for a while to get rid of redness, irritation, and damage that my skin had suffered from years of living in a dry climate, it worked wonders for me, I have hardly any redness or pinkness on my face compared to how it was before. So I also think the poster you quoted was off about the damaging nature of skin whiteners. i think there is a chance of reacting to them badly just as with just about any skin product because everyone's skin type can vary quite a bit.
haha the crazy thing was though, My face couldn't tan for a while even after I stopped using the whiteners. Looks like it should be okay this year though I definitely don't wanna overdo it and cause the damage that it took a while to correct. I guess that melanin production inhibition effect you mentioned can last for a while after you stop using them.
Well, to tell the truth, i do not know in detail about all these cosmetic stuffs, I feel better without using whitening/brightening creams because my skin is pure white from nature and very good. That is why i do not know a lot about these products. sorry if I was mistaken :) People who use tons of comsetics are the specialists :)

I think some Jgirls are the prettiest Ive seen in the world --- even compared to the prettiest American (of any race), Italian or French.
Who have you been looking at?
Like any country there are good and bad looking Jgirls, I have to say I think most are not good looking, but they do have a nice physic.
My friend (who has also been to Japan) and me wonder what they look like when they wake up?
That depends, is love involved?
Is their skin really that pale after just using whitening products? Or is it a very thick layer of white foundation??? It's almost unreal how porcelain their skin is and I dont remember seeing many girls with dark circles, mustaches, face stubble, moles, sunspots, etc. Besides shaving their face and spending an hour on makeup, what else do they do?
Most of the younger Jgirls I know tend to be dark so I’m not sure what you mean by “porcelain”.
Also I would hardly say their flawless, have you ever noticed how many Jgirls have what looks to be permanent bruises on their butt/legs or strange rashes on their arms.
My wife always comments on how clear my skin/butt is, so I have to conclude that it is not common.

I will add this though, when you’ve been drinking heavily in Japan your choices increase greatly, I have on occasion (before I was married of course) taken home a lady 10-15 years my elder and never regretted it, at the time I was 25-26 I'm 29 now.

Wow. That was almost like poetry. I never thought of it like that. Next time I see one of my friend's put on makeup, I'll really pay attention. I can't apply makeup to save my life. I love what it does but I don't want it to be my face. I've often thought of wearing makeup but I don't want to get used to a false "perfection". Alot of times, men could benefit from makeup but unfortunately, society has trained me to believe that as unmasculine.
