Ok, the unfair part is that the fatter the women, the greater their risk to get cancer in the stomach, but the same is not true for the fat man, they are safe...

で配信が滞る Means to be behind with supplies or orders.
滞るis similar to 未納 (unpoid) and means to fall behind on payment, orders etc...
If you have ever fallen behind on 区民税, you will know this word!

Just to explain the word 努, which Westsan seems to have some confusion with, it is a verb used in the following manner: 環境が回復するようにつとむ。To work hard toward the recovery of the environment. Diligence is an adjective, and better translated as 勤勉な.
The example sentence provided above means: "I would be honoured to endeavour to improve our response/service" (Probably a company spokesman speaking to one or more customers)
Keep up the hard work.

This was pretty interesting. The 37 year veteran that quit from the gaimusho because he disagreed with their policy on Iraq - kind of a scandal? - said this:

This words meaning gives me the image of hara-kiri because it means to cut the abdomen (intestine)
translation: He was extremely distressed over the the Iraq attack.

The explanation I got for this is just a whole lot of small buildings bunched together,
as opposed to a large 'danchi'

雑居 isn't just strictly about places where people live.
Remember that fire in a スナック in Kabukichou a year or two back? Well the building
where that broke out is called a 雑居ビル in Japanese. ie. a building with lots of little
businesses/restaraunts/bars/snacks in it as opposed to a huge building with one company taking up most of the floors.

妄想 means someone has delusions about something. A common example would be 被害妄想 (higai mousou) meaning someone who thinks they are the victim all the time.. someone with a "Persecution Complex"(?)

結果はどうかわからないけど。

I just got back from the test site.

I should have studied longer in advance of the test but...
I still may pass. Will know in Feb.

BTW: out of my 1Q testing room of 120 people there were 4 western folk and one south asian. Poor showing people.

My advice for those of you that are good at Japanese and are considering which test... the at Japanese and are considering which test... the Jetro test may be more applicable due to its more up-to-date Japanese.

In regards to your comments the other day on the JETRO test, I think you may be right. The JLPT seems like an auto-masturbatory ritual for Kanji geeks and those weirdo expatriate Japanese instructors who teach them. Very little of it is related to current usage, and when they find the pass rates are going up, they start upping the bar. A few years ago they used Bakusui (sleep like a log ? ), which is full slang. Seems to me they would be better off accepting that Japanese is being more widely and more proficiently spoken; but that would ram straight through the heart of that all too cherished presupposition: Japanese Bery Diffikuruto. Not that I'm bitter. Just Hungry. Must Eat.

ive heard the ikkyuu test is supposed to be getting easier based on some new criteria...dont know about this though. i took 2kyuu this year. wasnt too bad but seemed a lot more difficult than last years. i took last years like two weeks before this years test and got about 95%....ill be happy to pass the real one! I wonder not being in the intense testing environment enables one to think clearer...
