I am wondering about a possible position in Japan as an Engineer in Training (EIT). I will graduate this upcoming year with a B.Sc.in Mechanical Engineering and I am wondering about the possible job opportunities in Japan. I speak decent (intermediate) Japanese, however can only read/write about 500 Kanji. I was wondering if there are any places online that one could find out about possible Engineering positions. When I move to Japan I would really like to put my degree to some use, and I don't want to be stuck teaching english. If you know of any resourses could you possibly list them for me?

Anyways, thanks for taking up your time, and thanks to anyone who offers any help.

No work experience to offer an employer. What can you do that a Japanese cannot do? Many engineering firms here are going bust around the country, many bilingual Japanese with lots of experience are looking for work.

As said in other threads, employers will not want to provide you with special translations, explanations, etc., to enable you to work in their Japanese environment, as you will not be able to understand detailed instructions, or communicate with your co-workers. Do even know what small Japanese engineering companies are like?

All you are "qualified" now for is to "teach" English, with possible emphasis on engineering. If you want to work as an engineer, get work experience.
