Can anyone advise on the type of jobs that are available to people who have high Japanese language skills but didn`t major in anything other than language and culture at university. I have heard that as long as you are a really proficient bilingual, many companies will be willing to take you on and provide training for a position if you don`t already have the necessary knowledge. Are there recruiting companies etc in Tokyo with which Bilinguals can register and find a job matching their skills?

Remember that you'll be competing with a lot of Japanese nationals who will be given preferential treatment by Japanese companies. From time to time, there are ads in the "Japan Times" and "Tokyo Classifieds" for bilinguals. But, it's better to have other skills to offer.

If you have an 'interest' in some other field, then you might have luck at attending the Career Forums. The interest in some other field is very important though.
The companies at these job fairs are looking for motivated, bilingual people. The bilingual aspect is a must, but they companies will most likely be looking for people to fufil some other job function. People from a variety of backgrounds have been able to receive jobs however. A folklore major friend got a job with a Pharmecutical company at the Boston fair.
