Hey,

I'm currently sussing out a working holiday visa and would ideally like to get part time work (like with Nova or something similar) supplemented with private tuition in Sapporo. Can anybody please tell me how easy/hard it is to find good English jobs in Sapporo? Is it a big gamble just catching a flight up there and looking around for a week or a fairly safe bet considering the size of the city?

"Good English jobs" could be interpreted many ways. Sapporo is like all other places in that it offers jobs with the same pay scale. It has EC, ECC Junior, GEOS, NOVA, AEON, IAY, Berlitz, and numerous other small eikaiwas, so the market is pretty rich, but there is a fair amount of competition here, too. I wouldn't expect to find something in only a week.

Contact Ken Hartmann at the Hokkaido Insider web site. Ken has taken it upon himself to assemble lots of info on living/working in Hokkaido, and with a modest fee paid to him, you can receive email all year, whether for classified ads, jobs, meetings, etc. Since there is relatively little info on Hokkaido in newspapers and other online sources, it's worth it in my opinion. (and, no, I'm not Ken in disguise)

Here is Ken's contact info.
