Hello people:
I'm new to this fourm and soon to Japan. I'll be staying in Tokyo for a considerable amount of time. I was wondering where I would go to meet nice Japanese women ?? Do they like American men, a good man that is ?? I don't drink or smoke and just work out as much as I can.
I'm in good shape and average looking but I have a tattoo on my leg that can be covered providing I wear pants. If I wear shouts it is very noticable. I've read here on this fourm that a tattoo is a no no in Japan.
Thank You for any info !!

Tattoos are no-no's for Japanese, not for foreigners. A Japanese with a tattoo is associated with yakuza or the Japanese mob. Some public baths do not allow people in with tattoos but if you are a foreigner its usually OK as they know tattoos overseas have a different meaning.. People here know you don't belong to the Gotti family.
Plenty of places to meet women but my guess is you wont have much luck unless you speak the language or go somewhere where the women are who go to pick up foreigners (they hunt in packs in Tokyo) and speak some English. I dont live in Tokyo but Shibuya and Roppongi seem to where all the ex-pat bars are. Look for a bar called Gaspanic in Tokyo.

Wait... he said "nice woman."
What does that mean, exactly?
You will have better luck finding a "nice woman" if you stay out of Gaspanic.
If you want a "slutty woman" for a meaningless pickup, then it's another thing. Have at it in Roppongi.

Many of them are looking for a foreign husband, a ticket to a green card to live in the US, a couple of cute biracial kids, or they want you as a foreign-looking adornment. If thats what you are after there are plenty to choose from in Roppongi.Nice girls dont go there though.
By the way what are "shouts"?

It's what he gets when he shows up in shorts, showing off his tatoo.
The correct answer: Shorts, I think. ????

If you're not the archetypical blue-eyed blonde haired golden boy in your 20s, then you'll have blissful anonymity and live the name "Mr. Cellophane". They only want the ones that look like Brad Pitt. Too bad if you look like Eric Bana!

Funny you should say that. My gf is 'in love with' Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. But then, she likes the Hispanic look even more. The odd thing is, I'm not even physically her type so much, and yet I'm the blonde(light brown)/blue that most other Japanese love.

OP,
I have a suggestion for meeting women here. Go somewhere in the confines of the Japanese Nation, preferably somewhere serving alcohol. In such places you will regularly find members of the RWOG tribe (pronounced erwog). They are a mysterious people, all of them female, often scantily clad, with lithe, fine features. They seem to have no capacity for syntax, morphology, or pronunciation. Even when spoken to in their native tongue, they will respond in gibberish. Be not discouraged. While not the most cunning of linguists, they possess other, less visible talents and proclivities. One of the latter is their tendency to suggest in unintelligible phrases and gestures that nonetheless get the point across, that you both remove to a more private location, where a higher intensity form of international communication can occur. Many of them are full, carded members of the Committee for the International Exchange of Precious Bodily Fluids. Be not dismayed or perturbed by their tendency to scream out nonsense phrases and words during the height of the communication interface. This is merely a natural expression of the linguistic confusion that is the most telling characteristic of the members of that tribe.
I hope that helps.

Nice one Kurogane. In other words, you're telling him to go for the sluts?
kurogane
2004-09-17, 08:25 PM
No mere sluts, my daughter defiling friend ;), but rather Women of the Tribe of Random Word Order Girls. Ever met one? They are truly a pain in the ___. Many of my friends seem quite taken with their Other Charms, but I myself prefer a mellow, somewhat slobby lass. It ain't the wrapping, it's the package I care about.
On the other hand, I was myself Random Word Ordered to the Nth degree when I first arrived back, ohh, so many months ago. Verbal skills, nil. Oral skills, JOPT Level 1 Plus. A Shakuhachi player extraordinaire. Now she's dating a friend. Little weird, but hey, if they be happy, Kurogane be happy.

If you want to meet nice Japanese girls who like American guys and don't expect you to speak Japanese, your best bet is probably Torrance, California.

Yeah, truth be told many of them leave Japan to meet gaijin. I've heard this elsewhere. Best place to meet Japanese girls as a gaijin for dating is in Japanese neighborhoods in the US, Canada, England, etc.

After all we've been through JBS? And this is how you repay me? Hey ,great post on my guest book on my site...but I dont think you had to tell the world about your craving for the masculine dangly bits. For Christs sake JBS, its a family web site.

They swarm on Kalakaua Ave and Ala Moana Shopping Center. Of course your wife wasn't one of those Gootches, right?
Madmax--Japanese neighborhoods? Try Campus town, Anywhere and go to a Japanese friendship meeting or language exchange or whatever... Japanese church. Uhhh, wrong thread?
Kurosan -- Do you rib your friend now about the fact that he's dating a human vacuum cleaner? Does he mind that he's picking up your leftovers? Has he confronted you about 'breaking her heart'? hehheheh

Two more words: MEAT MARKET. No, not saying that international parties are a meat market (oh wait, they are), I just wish there were a good meat market where I could buy nice, juicy steaks at low, low prices.

I went into the Starbucks on Robson and Thurlow and there was the beautiful girl from the south gate of Shinjuku, with her long black hair and white skirt, talking on her cell phone to her Israeli boyfriend. I overheard her agreeing to meet him at Guu.
I watched as she walked south on Thurlow.

I watched as she walked west on Robson.

Ummnnnnnnnnnnn, Suteki. Or is that Sute-ki. Anyways, Yum. As the heat of summer passes, and the colours of autumn deepen, I find I crave the Red Meat of the Barbarian. Hold on, I'm a Barbarian. Anyways, steak, yum.

Yeah... Oh damn I need a steak. It's only been 2 months in Japan and the cravings have really hit hard. And Kurogane, do you always use such fancy words in the GP forums so that you don't forget your English? I feel like mine is rapidly going downhill. What little English I usually do speak is the simplified for Japanese people version.

Ummm, EroGG, that Israeli guy is only her jewelry consultant. AND, if you see her again, can you get her BC Tel number for me? Anyways, She's blocked my cell phone number. A little misunderstanding; nothing really. When she said she liked coming through the South Gate, naturally I thought it was an invitation to gel up. I didn't realise she was talking about the real South Gate of Shinjuku. Hey, Who Knew? When a girl lies on the love hotel bed with her own South Gate thrust into the air like that, misunderstandings are inevitable, I say. Eh?
MaxDefiler,
How about Volks? It's not too pricey. A real Kobe beef steak is the best option, but pricey. As for the big words, that one above is actually a play on a Monty Python skit. As for using them, nah, if anything, it's just a rather gratuitous (there we go again) hangover from work. Academic writing not being the most readable of all forms. As for losing your complex English abilities, I think we all go through that. I don't tend to drop into "the simplified for Japanese people version", simply because I work in Japanese, and don't use English except in social situations, where I don't really care if I'm being perfectly understood or not.. Take a look at the thread on losing your english, though. And don't get in a knipsh&t about it. It goes away, and then comes back, and then goes away again, and then............... you get the picture. Part of life In Country.

I found that the best place to meet nice girls is at... work or through friends who've lived there forever. Those ladies all speak English and are internationally minded. At least in my case.
I had a few flicks at the bars or even via 'asoboo' network (which was fun) but most girls I met that way were just curious and, I am sorry to say, a bit shallow. Just me Irish luck, mebbe.
And international parties, I always stayed away from those.

I heard that there are some nice ones in North Korea.
If you don't get lucky there, try Iraq. Very nice foreign aid workers just waiting to throw you a big barbecue

When dealing with the Kuso GG, that is an unavoidable problem. He is just a big bombastic softy, though. He has felt the Luuv of Mothra.
As for meeting J-women, I would highly recommend Japan. Lots of them here, so they tell me.
Alternatively, how about the South Gate of Shinjuku Station. Sometimes you will find there a tall, black haired women in a white dress talking on a cell phone. Should be easy enough to pick out of a crowd with those characteristics.

Talking about meeting the Japanese women...
I have never discovered the thrill and pleasures of nampa. Maybe I should have done it while I was 'free'.
I was surprised to see the extent of this practice, about which I was blissfully ignorant till I read an article in the Kansai Timeout. Then I realised that my g/f was being nampa'ed almost constantly - on her way to the date with me, waiting for me for lunch, and once even right in front of me in the Sally's bar in Kobe Sannomiya (Higashimon) - she was playing pool and I was chatting with me mates.
Oh woe woe woe, the pain of the missed opportunities.
