Does anyone know or can you recommend a guide to the re-cycle shops in/around Tokyo? I enjoy the neighborhood shops that stock everything from clothing to cookware to bedwear, etc. However --seems some are much better and stocked with quality used items than others. Anyone know of a posted or printed guide to such re-cycle shops? And -- where is the closest Hard-off store near Machida (Odakyu line)?? Thanks much -- any information, guidance is greatly appreciated.

The Yellow Pages is probably one of the best sources of that kind of info. They're listed under "リサイクルショップ". If you're not very proficient in Japanese (like me) looking them up and identifying where they are located can be tricky and time-consuming so think of it as an opportunity to learn through practical use.

As for Hard-off, a little research with Google Japan using "hard-off 町田" yielded:

OK, they're not exactly adjacent to Odakyu-sen but they aren't far away. I hope you find what you're looking for!
