Hi there
I'm coming to Japan in early Sept. on a working visa. I'm Canadian and I'm trying to determine whether or not my income earned in Japan will be exempt from taxes in Canada. Obviously help from fellow Canadian expats will be helpful. The question I need answered is whether or not I will be considered a "resident" of Japan for the time I will be staying (1 year) by the Japanese government. As I understand it I must become a "resident" of another country in order for my Canadian residency status to cease, and thus not be on the hook for taxes in Canada. Any input would be helpful...thanks.
