Bastids.
I just got thru ordering a few second hand books from Amazon's crappy site and up flashed 'This item cannot be sent to your address'

So I re-entered my address, same message. Then I looked for reasons that this might be so and found none.
So then I re-ordered thru different Amazon suppliers, got the same message and kicked my computer across the room.

Then finally I just ordered new books and hey, no problem.

Why? Why is this so?

The Internet Discriminates. That's all.

Think nothing of it. Happens to all of us every now and then.

I assume you were ordering from amazon.com. If the seller information does not include the magic words "International shipping available", then international shipping is not available.

Indeed, there is a big banner on the US site which asks if you're in Japan and redirects...

Most books in English can be bought on the Japanese amazon at mostly fair (sometimes obscenely cheap prices) and are sent out at a flat rate of 340yen (of course oversized costs more, but I've ordered records and all kinds of big stuff that normally costs $15USD or more per item from other retailers).

GAAAAAH!!!! I'm an idiot!

I just went to Amazon.jp. Could have got them in a quarter the time for half the cost!!
Thanks tho. It may be useful in the future.

Please don't call Amazon 'crappy.' I love Amazon. Many items, particularly used books, are sold by 'associate companies,' non-Amazon entities that give Amazon a kickback for directing you to their market and providing the Website. Thus, shipping conditions are determined in these cases not by Amazon but by the associates. I've found some that will ship to Japan and some that won't. Still, it's always a good idea to check the .jp site first.

Happy shopping!
