Just maybe it could be that there aren't many people who are both nissei and "white" who can compare experiences.
Are you nissei?

Well, there's ten million people in Tokyo and only a few thousand registered members on this forum. Most of us are light browny pink not white so we blend in with the crowd pretty well.
If you mean caucasians try Roppongi.

How are you both nisei and white? Are you asking if it's easier to be a nisei in Japan, as opposed to being a gaikokujin? I'd say it's easier to be nisei to fit in, but if you want attention, it's better to be white.

I didn't pay enough attention to the title so I missed just how silly the question was. My guess is that this guy is a nessei just waiting to pour his heart out. If so I'm actually interested as I don't know any nissei and am interested to know how they are treated.

I'm a whitey but with few exceptions I have been treated extremely well by Japanese people both within Japan and here in Australia. In all I have been treated worse by my fellow Australians than I ever have when I was in Japan. Just try ringing Telstra. In Australia treating each other like **** is a national pastime. In two years in Japan the worst thing that any Japanese person ever did to me was refuse to cut my hair and push me out of his store. He was about seventy and I looking back on it it was more funny than disturbing.

Why the fascination with white people?

I have only met one nissei in Japan and he was nice and we used to play pool. He was nice but he didn't speak much Japanese or English so our communication was limited. He seemed somehow sad and maybe he was getting treated bad.
I've seen Kamakaze Taxi and the nissei in that gets treated poorly but in the end he flips out and kills heaps of bad guys so all is balanced.
I knew a half Vietnamese half Japanese guy and the Yakuza cut him up pretty bad but I think that might have been because he borrowed money off them or something. He was half mad from serving in the South Vietnamese army anyway.

Why are you interested? Are you trolling?

usually what white people do in japan...?

Work on their tan I guess. You really should drop the use of the term "white people". Try "westerners" maybe.

I spent a year in Japan on exchange and a year sponsored by an insurance company to sit around studying Japanese and play kendo and pool. I have never been to college or language school in Japan. I think that most westerners in Japan teach English.

What's your background?
