50x50 icon under 3kb?

...JPEG format at 50 pixels wide and 50 pixels tall. (Please check your file sizes - your icon shouldn't be any bigger than 3k, - most of the icons on this site average 1.5k)


Image starts off at 3000x2000

reducing the long side to 50pixels gives me a file size of 5kb. How can I get it under 3kb and not require a magnifing glass?

Sorry, what is this icon for? A jpeg file of those dimensions that heavily compressed will lose almost all definition. If the site supports .png files, go with one of those, especially if it is artwork.
