Oh come on, there's bound to be violence in any country. When you have 250+ milliion people, every now and then people will die. And I would like to point out that the shooter in Wisconsin is Vietnamese I believe.

Good point. All the more vivid it is.
What do you think the possibility that they called him "gook" out on the field??? ---- HIGH
It just so happens that this guy was a modern day Billy Jack
He shot the **** out of them.
BTW: what is the possibility that this violence is uninstigated???? ---- ZERO

TENSION: Locals have complained that Hmong hunters do not understand the concept of private property, and previous fights have broken out among the Asian refugees and white hunters.

... in the shooting. She acknowledged that Hmong-Americans feel racism on a daily basis.
As I suspected... It was a racial/ethnic related spout. Hmmmnnnn

Well, my point was not that it wasn't uninstigated, or that the Wisconsonians(?) didn't do something to ____ the guy off. My point was that not only Americans are violent. Even if they weren't completely civil about kicking him out of their deer thingy doesn't mean he has to walk away, pick up a semi rifle, come back and start shooting people.
And why don't we tell the Palestinians, Israelis, Iraqi insurgents, Kosovoans (no clue how to spell that one), that Americans are dangerous.

American men are becoming more violent and mysoginistic. I think it all stems from the uprising of Marshall Mathers.

I blame the only obvious thing to blame. Our president. He's instilling violent and mysoginistic Christian values in more American citizens.

I blame Mel Gibson...he is on a one-man crusade to stir up all kinds of folk, isn't he; Patriot, Braveheart, Passion of Christ...hmmm, I wonder what he'll be up to next...suggestions anyone?

I don't think mel i amysogynist, he's been faithful to the same woman for years and had 8 children with her. He's one Hollywood actor I respect, as most others are just players and don't give mny people good role models when it comes to fidelity.

As Song2 (Senior Member) says: "I blame Mel Gibson..."
Maybe Song 2 is referring to that recent Xtian movie "The Passion of the Christ".
Mel Gibson isn't even American. Like me, he hails from the great sun-burnt land downunder.
It makes me wonder: there seems to be a pattern of foreigners coming into America and telling it what it do.
Michael Moore (a 100 per cent true American) is derided as being unpatriotic, while the Austrian born Arnold Schwarzenegger is paraded as a hero because he talks tough and in two-dimensional, "good-versus-evil" terms.
And why is it that Israel has such enormous sway over the policy directions of the United States?
I have heard it was Israel who convinced the US to invade Iraq. And now Israel is trying to pressure America in taking the next step: attacking Iran. I just wonder, how this little state of Israel has so much power over the US? Who is really wearing the pants in this relationship? No other country has the same kind of influence in the US, that Israel has. Not even the major players like China/Russia/Japan/Germany/India. Israel is ahead of them all when it comes to influence (and it only has a population of 3 million -- smaller than Denmark or Sweden). So, why aren't Danish or Swedish diplomatic staff blitzing into the White House and snapping orders that America should do this or that? Why does Israel have so much power? There is something that I am missing here. There is something fishy in the whole equation. Israel and the US have developed a strange, colonial relationship over the years. And that is one reason, I believe, why the September 11 2001 attacks happened.

KK (Sensei): Not questioning his ability to keep it in his trousers (or not) as the case may be, but his choice of roles.
Code Rot (fellow Senior Member): He was born in New York ;) Good points about Arnie and Israel, by the way.
My point was about his choice of roles/movies, and what reaction they cause folk to have, due to the subject matter/factual inaccuracies (where applicable).
I watched The Patriot along with a bunch of Americans, and the younger one revelled in the fact that Mel was whooping British ___, rather than the horror of war, let alone the horrific and pointless tactics they used to employ, by way of simply lining up opposite each other and taking turns to fire!

Americans? Dangerous? My God, man, I'm going to have to move to that not quite American Nirvana next door. Damn, what is that country called again....the one with the funny money, weird bacon, and what's it called again, oohhhhh, ya, peace and democracy. They used to have that down south, too.
Maxxie,
Your criticisms are fair, but the guy in question (the nutter shootist dude) has been in the Land of the Freeze for most of his life. Seems that in an immigrant country, that should be long enough. The representation of him in the media as "not quite American" is insidious, and despicable. Dastardly even. If anything, his actions prove just how American he has become. Gots a problem? Shoot it out. Not that you do that, simply that a lot of us really do see you guys (generalisation?) heading that way.
Akahebi,
Bad trouser snake. No make comments using g word. Bad word. Bad trouser snake. You spanky self three times.
Anyways, nice to see old Wetstan can still get a rise out of some of us when he wants too, though.
Now if he could only get his post count back up, he might catch that other guy....what's his name again, Iron Barbarian, or something? :p

So, while we're all discussing Americans being dangerous the following events happened in Japan since this thread started (Sorry, no links to articles, all things I saw on tv, heard on radio, and from Maki):
In Ibaraki Prefecture: 19 year old boy kills both of his parents.
Also in Ibaraki Prefecture: 28 year old man kills both of his parents, and his sister, leaving her 11 month old child without a mother.
And, in Nara Prefecutre, not far where my girlfriend lives: A 7 year old girl was kidnapped, had her teeth pulled out, and was drowned (or something like that, I'm a bit fuzzy on the details).
Three really horrible crimes.

Uh
Cold blooded murder and Murderous Race Related Fighting
are two very distinctly different cultural phenomenons. and not to be compared.

Hurrah for Michael Moore.
Your right that Swarfegnuggin guy is nothing like "American"
at the risk of sounding pro-violence I must explain to you the rightous justification of Israel in its fight.
Random Violence killing innocent civilians, women and children is not the correct path way toward nation building
BTW - I am not Jewish; but I dont have to be to see that.
