which camera to go for..

...amateur photographer, want to buy a new camera. any suggestions / useful tips / experiences abt Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F828, other than that it is quite expensive!!

how does the Canon Digital Rebel compare with it?

The digital rebel is a good camera. It's fast and the pictures come out beautiful. It also comes with a lense. I had the EOS 10D which is basically the same model as the Digital Rebel but heavier and more rugged for professional use. Really that's my only problem with the Digital Rebel. It just feels too light and too fragile for what I need a camera for.

I just go the 20D. I don't know how much money you want to spend, but the rebel is a really good camera. If I were you though I'd watch the price on the 20D and pick it up when it goes down a bit. You'll have an awesome camera that will still be awesome in 3-4 years.
