Hi! I'm a college student. I just finished my second year at a University. I have two majors, English and Business, I am trying to learn some Japanese on my own but plan on taking some courses before I graduate, and I am planning on getting certified to teach English as a Foreign Language once I graduate. I am very interested in Japan. I would like to work in Okinawa because I prefer hot weather. Where in Okinawa would I be more likely to get a job? What towns are best in terms of friendliness and Japanese culture? I've been eying Naha because I've never lived in a big city and would like to try it, but small towns are O.K. too. Also, any information concerning the cost of living, what the apartments are like, and what there is to do would be greatly appreciated. Actually any information at all about Okinawa is wonderful, websites included!!!
Also, is it more difficult for foreign women to get teaching jobs than foreign men in Japan?
Thanks in advance for the help!!!

I am at present residing here in Okinawa for 13 years already and I would suggest Okinawa City is better than Naha, job-wise and since it is a place for foreigners here. Apartments and costs of foods are cheaper compared to mainland Japan but jobs are scarce. If you know kanji and Nihonggo you can get a good job but if not, your chance of working here is very low. Anyway, good luck and do your best!!
