Who are you talking about?

Phillipine bar hostesses? English teachers? short-term tourists? Performers and musicians? Why do you need to know?

For English teaching? early - mid 20s
For non-teaching jobs? late 20s to 30s.
Corporate appointments? mid 30s to 40s

All foreigners from all countries?

Better refine your question, and remember that people who come to Japan to teach are in the minority, compared to all who come to Japan to work.

Some people here, and many of the "sociopaths on Japantoday" frequently forget that foreigner in Japan includes Asians, Africans, Middle-Easterners, South Americans, the Chinese and Koreans, besides the more fewer though possibly more obvious European, North American and Oceanian people.

REASONS:

1) Because they like the country and the culture
2) to study the language
3) to find girl/boyfriends
4) to change their life
5) to take a break after uni
6) in hope to make a lot of money
7) to visit
8) to flee their country (can relate to number 4)
9) Because of their relationship commitments

Very funny......

Ask a silly question and you get a silly answer, if you ask me.
