Language school Ikebukuru/ShinjukuPage Title Module
While I was in Japan last August I visited with a friend living in the Ikebukuro area. He attended school while he was there, and worked at the Tokyo Dome. I also have another friend getting ready to go to school in the Tokyo area. If you are interested I will ask them for the details.
If you aren't set on Tokyo (great place to be, but very expensive to live), then give The Yamasa Institute a look. I went to school there for three months, and will be returning in January. They have many different levels including absolute beginner. I started out as an absolute beginner. The courses were intense, but fun! Your schedule is from 9am - 1:30 or so depending on electives. Tuition and accomodation cost me $3000 for three months. That gave me a fully furnished apartment about 8 minutes walk from the school.
I was really happy there. It's located in Okazaki (just 25 minutes JR east of Nagoya). The cost of living was pretty low (sevearl 100 Yen shops with everything you could want). There are several shopping centers and parks in the are, and you are always close to Nagoya, which is one of the largest cities in Japan.
