What's a "tape recorder"?
... I start off every lesson with a smile and a kiss regardless of the age or sexual preference of the student.
But seriously, I don't think anything has changed. It's still the same language.
Anyone that charges that is a moron and is essentially killing their own job.
Usually "half" means that they are mixed with some non-asian.
Once I heard a very Japanese looking kid say to the juku teacher, "I'm half"... and she said with surprise, "Really!?". "My mom is...
No, no one ever says that. No one has any idea what you are talking about.
Well, I am not N1, but I can read kanji...
I started studying in college... I continued on my own.
I 100% agree. The ones that are pathetic are pathetic. The non-pathetic ones are not pathetic... I think there is a coincidence there.
I am not touching the rest of the post...
I am not sure how accurate it is and I have not done the research, but one of my older adult students told me that the overtime culture was rooted in the custom from before the bubble burst.
He said...
I don't think it ever was.
BTW- I asked this same question to non-Japanese and I found a slight difference.
In the non-Japanese companies, most people left at about 6pm (some stayed until 9 or 10 every day, though)... but...
Years ago I worked teaching English in NY. There were many Japanese students from various companies and various positions, but mostly "lifers" that had about 15+ years with their company.
I was...
Next time try "Sorry, what was that you said? I can't understand you with all that food in your mouth."
If you do it a lot, maybe she will just get in the habit- at least when talking to you- like...
You are being crazy.
All Japanese are polite, clean and have impeccable table manners.
In what way?
The EU has very high unemployment... I guess in THAT line of thinking, they are not "overworked", I agree.
I would not get involved or offer any opinion. "I am happy to help with what ever you two decide."
She was probably not interested to start with.
She agreed to anything because she is at work and you are (in a way) above her in the company. She may have initially assumed that it was a lot of...
Jesus christ! And people say my game is bad!
How about ask for her phone number and email address? She can receive contact from you even after her training period has expired. (Not very) modern...
Regarding having teaching certification... of course they like that and "prefer" it. Legally, is it not a requirement like it is in the public schools, though.
Private schools do not follow the child protection laws that public schools have to.
I know people without teaching certification in any country that teach in private schools as solo teachers.
...
So... you enjoy the kanchos!?
The question clearly asks about challenges and problems. How am I being negative by answering a question that asks about problems?
You will be annoyed at the amount of children under the age of ten that jab you in the groin and anus.
This is an aspect of "Japanese culture".
There is nothing "anti-Japan" about what I said.
I simply said that Japanese do not have a very different culture than upper middle class Americans. I didn't say that I dislike it.
...
It's not a matter of defense or criticism.
I am just saying that I don't see Japanese to have a culture that is all that different than Western culture. I didn't say "good" or "bad".
The...
I would LOVE to know what depths of "Japanese culture" I am missing.
So far, the only "unique points of Japanese culture" that I have seen in the general population are- shoe changing fetishes,...
Why do you have to ask?
You are the one watching my every move! Why don't you tell me. :)
... any hobbies yet?
