Has anybody else notices that you can't call using viber over softbanks network anymore?

Not sure what he was talking about - it's working fine for me.
Do not used Viber in two devices( ipad, galaxy.etc.) the viber password will reset everytime the Viber log off when switching into different devices. A new password will send to your phone. Slow signal for Iphone 3g when updating to the latest version.
1 Viber number can be assigned to only 1 device simultaneously. We plan to add an option to use 1 number on 2+ phones in the future, but for now you'll simply have to register your iPad with a different number (for example - your home number, a friend's number, etc.)
About the call quality - our new voice codec on Viber 2.1.x actually improved the sound quality on 3G networks - at least this is the report we get from most of our users. Are you sure your 3G reception is good?
Viber was a real hassle to activate -- took a couple of days. It was supposed send an SMS to my handset, which was not received. Then I requested a phone call to my landline to get the code. The phone rang once and then hung up several times! Really frustrating. After about an hour of this, I gave up. The following day, still all the SMS messages failed, but eventually a phone call came through. Took a couple of hours, which is crazy just to activate an app.
Hmm, mine was activated right away. It has worked well up until a few days ago. Someone calls, I answer and the Viber ringtone (nice, thank God) still continues for another few seconds. Is that weird or what? I use a 4s and the main other parties use a Galaxy (via Docomo) and an iPhone 4 (Softbank).
I hate the NTA.
@Koenji -
Rarely, Viber fails to send the SMS and callback with code right away due to unexpected, and very specific errors that are very hard to identify. It could happen due to bad cellular networking (out of our hands), or lack of phone-number range definitions. I wouldn't want to involve you in the technicalities, but I'm just glad that it works fine for you
@Super Grover -
Thank you for the report.
May I ask if this problem happens only to you, or also to other friends with iPhones? Specifically, do you have more friends with the new iPhone 4s who have the same problem?
My friend had that problem on an iphone 4, ios 5.
The only thing in Japan that is harder than being a foreigner in Japan, is being Japanese in Japan.
@Viber
Thanks for the response. I suspect it's due to the fact that Japanese people don't actually use SMS, everything is cell email. My carrier is emobile. When I called their help desk while ago to ask about getting SMS on my handset, they had never heard of it. I'm not joking. When it comes to IT, Japan exists in its own universe. (It's called "Galapagos" syndrome, and it's well documented.). Maybe some more localization efforts are required on your side? I recall back in the old days that Yahoo Messenger, for instance, set up a separate, mutually exclusive Japan-specific client and service when it came here. Different accounts, passwords, etc., than what everyone else in the world was using.
As for your landline calls hanging up after a single ring, over and over again, no idea, just weird.
They all know sms - each company has it's methods. AU is c-mail. I can't remember the names of the other ones. They just don't know/use the term SMS.

Even if people don't use SMS much (or simply don't call it SMS) - it's still something that should pop up on their screen, and the sender's name is always "Viber". This should be an intuitive indicator that the code has arrived.
@Super Grover -
Thank you, I'll be waiting for news from you so we can try and see what we can do to help.
Grover, thanks but I was referring to the activation process.
I wiped my iphone last week and had to re-install viber - only took about 2 seconds for the mail to come. Are you sure you put in the proper country code?

@Effected After: After what you said above about SMS, I started using it exclusively to communicate with friends (in Japan), as an experiment. Several said it was the first in their handsets' history - indeed the first time in their life -- that they have ever received such strange messages. A couple of others, on Softwank, say they get "fail" when replying, so they resort to good old cell mail. Sigh. SMS has long been propriety based technology ("Skywalker," etc), and hence people have just stopped using it over the years, according to my conclusion.
The source of this issue could just be a problem with the cellular providers themselves (the SMS is blocked somewhere on the way).
If you tried getting the SMS and call-back over and over again and still failed, you should contact our support team at http://support.viber.com and provide them with the information. They might be able to identify the problem and assist you further.
Hi everyone,
I bring good news: we plan to release Viber in Japanese soon!
We would appreciate your help with adding missing translated lines, and confirming the existing translations previously added by users: http://translate.viber.com
If you could get more Japanese Viber users to help with this, we would highly appreciate it.
