    Default Osaka Time!

So I have decided to go to Osaka during my summer vacation. I have a list of things I want to see but these are my MUST see things that I really want to get done:

    -Osaka Castle
    -Shitenhouji Temple
    -Kaiyukan
    -Visit Umeda

Things I would really like to see but won't be too upset if I don't:
-Osaka Science Museum (I just really want to see the Planetarium)
-Tenjinbashisuji (I figure it's just a long shopping street and probably not so different than what i've seen in hiroshima and okayama other than length)

I saw other things in my search too but those are the things that I really would like to see.

I figure I could get a hotel in Umeda and that'll cut out the "visit umeda" portion right? How many days do you think is a good stay in Osaka? I figure I could see these things in a day right? Is there anything else I should do while there?

Kaiyukan is the only one that is a little remote. If I were you, I would go to Kaiyukan in the morning, visit Shitennoji temple during the day, relax at Spa World in Tennoji, and grab a drink in Shinsekai after that.

Osaka castle is very accessible from Namba. Furthermore, Namba, Umeda, and Tennoji are all connected with the Midosuji line, so there is really no need to "reserve" anything for those areas. Just go.

In Umeda, there is virtually nothing cool, in my humble opinion, except for the Umeda Sky Building.

There is a Cirque Du Soleil show in Nakanoshima if your in to that. Also walking distance from Umeda.

thanks. that actually sounds like a prety good plan so far. especially the grabbing a drink at shinsekai.

the reason i said visit umeda and stay there is because I do want to see the sky building and I figured it was a big and busy enough area that I could always have something to see or do at night within reasonable distance from my hotel. Is that a false impression?

cirqe du soleil isn:t my thing. maybe i should see if there are other shows avialable around the time i plan to go then.

ever been to the science museum?

Well, there are plenty of drinkeries and eateries, especially if you venture east from Hep5. Where you probably want to head is the 阪急東通商店街. Lots of salarymen there.

    Haven't been there.

Edit: Oh yeah, there is a place called Gyouza Stadium behind Hep5. It's pretty cool, that is, if you like beer and gyouza.

    some suggestions

walk down Midosuji arcade from Namba to Hommachi a distance of maybe 2 miles.
Go up the World Trade Center building in Nanko which is about 50 stories
Like Korean food? try some of the Korean dishes at Tsuruhashi
Juso is said to be Osaka's old red-light district.
You would be better off taking day trips to Kobe. More to see out there and back in time for dinner.
Walk down DenDen town and see all the electronic goodies on display.
    Go Up Tsutenkaku tower
Walk around ShinImamiya which is where Japans have-nots congregate. Lots of foreigners book rooms as they are cheap even if area is seedy.
    Go to Dobutsuenmae Zoo.
    Live band shows in Amerikamura
Go out to see the Akashi Bridge, longest suspension bridge in the world.

    thanks for the suggestions.

Will definitely check the Korean food out at tsuruhashi. Though must I really go up so many buildings? I figure going up the umeda sky building would be good enough.

Are the rooms in ShinImamiya area clean for being cheap? Is that near shinsekai and the zoo? Anyway I'm guessing this is all n the Midosuji line so that's good.

I’d suggest that you spend just a few minutes in front of the Tower of the Sun – maybe even on bended knee, in Suita.

thanks guys. I went to Osaka and had fun. I visited Tsuruhashi and ate korean bbq. I went to kaiyukan, osakajo, and umeda. I also rode the aqualiner. All in all it wasn't bad. Thanks for all of the suggestions. They really helped me out
