Default Dead air for the Windbag

"The exodus of advertisers fleeing from Rush Limbaugh may finally be taking a toll on his radio show.

Liberal watchdog group Media Matters noticed that on at least two occasions on Thursday, Limbaugh’s flagship station in New York, WABC, broadcast several minutes of dead air during commercial breaks."

We should thank Rush for this positive trend. Don't support hate speech.

Nearly 100 advertisers stampede away from right-wing radio

Nearly 100 advertisers have made it clear that they intend to pull their ads from all right-wing talk radio, according to a newsletter cited by the online trade journal Radio-Info.com.
TRI Newsletter, a daily column by radio insider Tom Taylor says Premiere Networks, the Clear Channel subsidiary that carries The Rush Limbaugh Show and other popular AM talk-radio programs, is circulating a memo stating that a group of 98 advertisers are pulling out of not just Limbaugh’s show, but out of the conservative talk-radio market altogether.

Who would have thunk it would be something like calling a woman a slut that would lead to this? With all the other ridiculous crap these shows have spouted over the years, I can't believe that this was the one that set people off.

Could very well be. Are Americans starting to realize their country is broken? This *could* be the start of the healing process. I sure hope so.

Religious TV host Pat Robertson wants pot legalised

Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson has expressed support for the legalisation of marijuana in the US, citing failure in the nation's war on drugs.

In an interview with the New York Times, Mr Robertson said the US should "treat marijuana the way we treat beverage alcohol".

He says he has never smoked marijuana, but objects to the cost of imprisoning people for possession of the drug.

Thumbs down Abstinence-Only SexEd Bill in Utah

    And then there's this:

The Utah state Senate passed a bill Tuesday that would allow schools to drop sex education, prohibit instruction on how to use contraception, and prohibit discussion of homosexuality in class.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1326777.html

I mean, it IS Utah, but still....

Default U.S. Army among 141 groups pulling ads from Limbaugh

    This is getting goo:

U.S. Army among 141 groups pulling ads from Limbaugh

A memo being circulated by the distribution company behind Republican shock jock Rush Limbaugh has revealed a massive flight from Limbaugh’s program in the wake of his offensive comments about a Georgetown law student.
The companies include major corporate players like Sony, British Petroleum, McDonald’s, NBC, Toyota, Subway, Lowes, Autozone, Geico, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, State Farm, IBM and many others.
And in a surprise reveal, it appears that the U.S. Army is among them.

Rush would probably like this one, too.

"A proposed new law in Arizona would give employers the power to request that women being prescribed birth control pills provide proof that they're using it for non-sexual reasons. And because Arizona's an at-will employment state, that means that bosses critical of their female employees' sex lives could fire them as a result."

Whatinhell is in the water down in Arizona, anyway?

Yes indeed – a reprieve for Kansas… It used to be that the not-so-great state of Kansas was home to the laughing stock of anti science religious and just plain dumb people – but Arizona has taken their place, and wins the gold medal for stupidity. But no doubt – they will wear that gold medal as if it were an honor – not realizing, or caring for that matter – that they are the dumber and dumbest capital of the world. Kinda puts the likes of the middle east ayatollahs to shame – and that has just got to be good, or so they must think (if they only could think...).

Just goes to show that forcing employers or insurance companies to provide employees with contraceptives ain't the best way to go about ensuring access to them. Rather a complete overhaul of the healthcare system is needed, with the government directly providing essentials to those in need. It's a shame that Obama didn't deliver (pardon the pun) on what people elected him to do.

No, not right as usual. Mormonism believes you have the right to as many wives as 'you can afford' which means that if god has blessed you then you have the god given right to have as many wives as you can support emotionally, financially, and physically.

Thats why mormons support viagra for men, but not contraception for women.

Get your facts straight. I am no fan of Mormonism, but they DO NOT practice polygamy. They discontinued that practice well over 100 years ago and do not allow anyone practicing polygamy to be a member. Period. Anyone who practices polygamy is not a Mormon but belongs to some faction that is not recognized by the Mormon church. Seriously, I know all this and I don't even have any Mormon friends. It's just basic knowledge.

But the polygamists call themselves Mormons. Seeing as the original Mormons arbitrarily decided they were Mormons, any other group that arbitrarily does as well is just as valid.

So, I admit I don't always pay close attention, and I had the news playing in the background the other day, and they were talking about this whole religious objection to "free" contraception stuff, and then they started talking about the Accelerated Afghan Pullout, and I thought it was all part of the same story.
For I am nothing, if not critical.

No, it's anyone who supports polygamy is not a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. You can be a Mormon and practice polygamy, it's not officially sanctionned by the mainstream and the elders turn a blind eye towards those groups who practice it.

The Mormons/LDS do not practice polygamy. It's the groups like the FLDS that you always hear about but they aren't affiliated with the LDS.

I am totally done with this topic.

Because they don't want the young guys taking care of the young women. The young ones are saved for the older guys who are financially able to take care of them The young guys are left to fend for themselves and tend the goats.

Modern day Mormon church is a heresy. That's why the 'factions' exist. They are the true keepers of the faith. Why do you think all those small single dwelling homes exist around Mesa Az, and the temple in Salt Lake city that are owned by the church? They are where the 'nuns' live who service the Mormon elders and rich members as their 'wives'.

That is NOT basic knowledge. That is what the tour guide dishes out because it is the OFFICIAL position of the Mormon church and because polygamy happens to be illegal in the US. The reality is far different. I can assure you polygamy is deeply entrenched in Mormondom and widely practiced today. I know because I KNOW and I know a lot more than the Mormon friends you don't have.

So the elders and the enforcers get the sweet young things and low level sh!t disturbers like you get to service the farm animals and the old grannies. That sounds just like the system in the UAE.

I don't care for your dig at the UAE. I actually served there and they treated me decently, even though I was a low level ____ hauler. I got to meet the prince, they gave us free call home privi-ledges, and looked the other way at whores from the Phils we brought in. I told him Micheal J was someone I respected 'cause he brought a lot of money to his country. The prince agreed with me and promised he would do his best to see Micheal got that albumn recorded, and build that gothic Thrilla' theme park in Dubai, but things didn't work out. I blame that on Micheal though, cause he was listening to the lib jive.

As for the Mormon church. The UAE is one of the fastest growing places for church membership. That's because they have right to work laws which proves their advanced social consciousness and respect for the upper income brachetes. And because women have to join the church or have their genitals surgically removed. It's a great incentive for membership which the US should adopt and probably will when Santorious-rectum is elected.

Then again, there may not be. I read about Pat's epiphany in yesterday's Popbitch, so I did a google to search to find out more. You put in pat robertson marijuana & you get this tripe come out top of the list:

    http://edition.cnn.com/2012/03/14/op...war/index.html

Not only was this Bennett guy pulling the strings of the War on Drugs as the Czar under the first Bush, he's still given air-time to spout his cherry-picked facts & dogma posing as expert commentary. He gives us the stats for cannabis users in treatment making out like all pot smokers are uneducated & unemployable, then goes on to say that the U.S. criminal justice system is the largest referral source for drug treatment programs & that of all the inmates in state prisons, 0.3% are arrested for offenses involving only marijuana possession. So the guy's selling a portrait of a typical cannabis user based on a criminal who just happens to use cannabis amongst other crimes; & yet CNN are still giving this fossil prime real estate in which to push his warped views on prohibition. Who needs right-wing media when you've got the mainstream?
Who's that tripping over my bridge?
