Default Thai New Year YoYogi park

Today March 24 to the 25th there will be a Thai New Year Celebration at Yoyogi park. Come out and enjoy the Thai food!

I hate that event. There's never enough seating, the lineups and waits are always really long, and the crowding is more intense than the Yamanote at rush hour. Standing in a jammed concrete square while holding paper plates and trying to eat luke-warm street-quality food while being jostled by an endless stream of people is not my idea of fun. I just don't get it.

Just go to a good Thai restaurant. The food, ambiance and service will be much, much better.

It's early this year, don't they usually hold it in April or May? I know that last year it was held in November due to the organizers' reluctance to hold it at the usual time due to the situation in Fukushima.

Don't worry! The line won't be as bad at this booth:

I might give it a whirl if I'm in the area.
I have eaten so many poor Thai meals at restaurants though.

It's like they do a really half-assed job of it out of the country.
The last 'seafood soup' I had at some place in Shibuya was pathetic. A tiny bowl of watery stock with three tiny, just defrosted shrimp and a bit of cabbage. It was about 1000 yen.
I think Monsoon Cafe does a pretty good job....if that passes as Thai..
