Default [help] need japanese language school in fukuoka

    Hi,

Wondering if there is anyone who could give me any recommendations with choosing a Japanese Language School in FUKUOKA.

    ADDITIONAL INFO:

    -am a citizen of Australia
-do not come from a kanji speaking background
-have done some basic Japanese study at a university 1 year (first semester passed second semester failed but not by much)
-will be living in Chihaya/Najima (Fukuoka)
-would like to do a 2 years of study but will settle for 1.5years
-course must start around OCTOBER 2012
-would really like a certificate out of this that i could go to university with

I have looked at the following language schools

    NILS

i like this school but my friend says that it is about a hour away from where i will be living

    YMCA FUKUOKA LANGUAGE SCHOOL

needs 150hrs of japanese studies/JLPT level 4 (my university cannot say how many hours i have done in the course and i did fail one semester so i dont think the second semester technically counts at all and with the JLPT i dont think i would be able to pass it as i havent done japanese studies for about 1 year now)

    GenkiJACS

mainly a short term language school i did see that they accept student visa type courses but the student visa is not guaranteed

so THANK YOU in advanced to anyone who can help me out

when i was applying for a language school, the guys at gogonihon.com told me they had a bunch of schools all over japan not listed on their site. you could try contacting them and see if they have schools in fukuoka too. chances are they do.

i studied abroad in fukuoka for a month and it was amazing. where are you gonna be staying?

Thanks for the reply, did you study abroad in Fukuoka with gogonihon? and I'll be staying in Chihaya/Najima because thats where my friend is living there at the moment since it will be cheaper just to move in with him.

nope, i did an exchange program with my community college to fukuoka. it was at kyushuu sangyo university which is really close to chihaya/najima. fukuoka is an amazing city and ive been told it's changed a lot since i was there in 2006.

i used gogonihon for my current school in tokyo which i'm super happy with. i'm pretty sure they can help you out with a school in fukuoka since they were telling me about schools in okinawa and hokkaido too when i was talking to them.

let me know if you wanna know anything about fukuoka. i don't really remember too much off the top of my head, but i'm sure it'll come back to me. lol

I went to Genki JACS for a couple of weeks one summer and yes a lot of the students only seemed to be there short-term.
The organisation and teachers were excellent, but I'm not sure if it'd be a great place to study long-term or not.
Also I found that almost all of the students were from a western background, and overall their level of Japanese was quite low (I was in the top class with people roughly around JLPT 2 level, although maybe it's different at different times of year). Consequently most of the students spoke English to each other and the lessons/homework weren't quite as intensive as I would have liked.

Gogonihon don't charge the students anything for what they do..

so it is worth contacting them and asking them for info (even if you later choose to go a different direction)

hennagaijin i have been talking with them for about a month they are really helpful and i am currently in the process to get a student visa and enrolling into a school.

and for those of you who are looking for a school in the fukuoka region it seems that i will be going to F-Seikei its close to Najima/Chihaya where i will be staying so if you are looking to do something similar to what i am doing and want some more information dont hesitate to PM me.
