Can I lose my visa if I tell them I missed the tax filing deadline? I arrived here in December and only worked for about 7 calendar days before the new year.

No, but you may have difficulties renewing if your taxes are not up to date by then.

Check page 9 of the tax guide. It's possible/likely that you were not required to file this year anyway.
