    "The Geography of Thought: How Asians and Westerners Think Differently...and Why"

    Not specifically about Japan, but it gave me more insight into the Japanese mindset than anything else I'd read before or since. Really dry though. Reads like a textbook.
    The only thing in Japan that is harder than being a foreigner in Japan, is being Japanese in Japan.
