Although my daughter is out of Kindy now, I used to love it when I would go and pick her up and she would spot me from about 30m out and come running over at full throttle. Can't see that happening with the Burka. Aside from that, I think I am pretty much pro-Burka.
So in conclusion, even if the girl herself is fine and open-minded (which I assume she is, being US-educated and having been traveling & living independently by herself across US & Asia), it's the family and her communities that would be the bigger issue?
I quite understand if this happens in muslim countries like Malaysia or the Middle East, but is this still the case even for people living in big city like Tokyo? I just find it hard to believe..
Hmm, actually by head cover I was referring to scarf. It only covers the hair and comes in different colors, definitely not the face covering black cloth thing.
How about a big city like London?
"But the case has turned the spotlight on so-called ''honour'' crimes in some of Britain's migrant communities. About a dozen women a year die in acts of revenge over breaches of ''honour'' that might include refusing to wear traditional clothes or accept an arranged marriage, or choosing a man of whom the family disapproves.
UK police recorded more than 2800 honour attacks in 2010, a figure that is understated because only 39 of the country's 52 police forces revealed their numbers. Among the 12 forces able to provide comparison figures from 2009, there was an overall rise of 47 per cent in such incidents. Five hundred of the attacks were in London."
