NHK fee

Im sure someone created this kind of thread before but the search doesn't work on only 3 letters.

Who ever paid the NHK fee's? If I dont pay can they sue me or what not?

Some NHK slag came by the house tonight telling us their system changed and that they are now going door to door asking everyone to pay their fee's.

I think its bullshit but Id thought Id ask here first. I dont even watch NHK so I sure as hell don't want to pay these ______s.

What I find peculiar is that since im a gaijin how they know a gaijin lives here? Assuming they are picking on gaijin because they are easy targets.
Nobody except my work knows my address. Can they get address info from the cityhall or something?

They have been walking around for a while. Remove the NHK sticker on the door if you have one.

My Japanese husband has never and will never pay the NHK fee.
The last time they tried to browbeat me into paying, he came and yelled through the door at them in the kind of Japanese I never learnt at Japanese school - and told them that he was not legally forced to pay.
They went away and never came back - and nothing ever happened.

We now live right night to the in laws, who faithfully pay and get their little sticker, but the NHK collectors wisely just leave us alone.

,,,,your door for anyone is my advice. There are the legit NHK guys that are out collecting,but there are some shady newspaper types too.

There are fake NHK collectors as well. Not sure which is worse tho.

Was left alone for many years until the guy showed up at my door. Told him "I don't pay for NHK." He wasn't pleased with that response and kept yelling for several minutes through the door I had closed on him. There is nothing they can do.

Invite them in. Shake them down for money. If they don't cough up, rough 'em up and call the police. Explain that he pushed his way in and you acted in self-defense.
