Default Best Prepaid Service Plan - 40 days

All I need as to be able to call/text locally for about 40 days. Are there any cheap plans you recommend. At the moment I am not entirely sure if my phone will work in Japan, but if it does, where can I purchase a Japanese SIM card?

If it doesn't work, where is the cheapest place I can rent a cell phone?

    Thanks!

    Softbank.
Cheap and easy short term rental.

These stores have English speaking staff:

    Hi

But I thought Softbank only offers phones/plans for year long contracts.

I got a softbank pre paid phone today. It costs 3000 yen for 15 minutes of voice chat. Unlimited emails though. Morale of the story: Don't call people in Japan.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply!!
Did you order the phone online?
How long can you use the phone for? I need it for about 40 days.

Also! did you need a japanese passport to apply for the phone? :S
