Thank you for your answer.
I am aware of this, what I am wandering is that if using services to change my IP and make it look american is legal or not in Japan. I am not interested in doing illegal stuff, I simply would like to legally enjoy american tv programs, movies, series.
Thank you!
Do you mean legal and paid for, or legal and free? Legal and free, your choices are limited to nil.
Legal (or at least the legal side of grey) and paid for, you could try a slingbox hosting service like these guys:

I think there are others too.
Apple TV is also an option, but the price per show is scandalous.
For I am nothing, if not critical.
www.justin.tv is pretty good for watching current movies and some US TV shows.
Taking a step too far since 1970
Thank you for your answers, yes I meant legal and to pay for it.
Hulu jp is already a good start but the contents are really limited.....
Other ways to enjoy your favorite stuff: Go to movie theaters and concerts. Buy at HMV/Tower Records, Amazon, iTunes, Yahoo!Auction/EBay etc. Rent from Tsutaya/AppleTV or borrow from library/friends. Get cable/satellite tv. Not sure if this is legal but you can always ask those back home to send you stuff by email or ordinary mail?
Why not use a proxy server?
Is the proxy server legal?
The new law against illegal download is scaring me a lot....I want to be doing things in a legal way..
What about a VPN?
๔E๔:*: ๔ ๔
There is no doubt about it: VPN services are perfectly legal! It only depends on you how you use them. As long as you are not performing illegal activities, then it is perfectly legal to use a VPN service. Even though you use a VPN for some illegal activity, this does not make the use of such services illegal.
There are a lot of benefits a VPN service offer including:
* Hiding your real IP address
* Access blocked websites and applications
* Surf the web privately and securely
* Easy to use, easy to install and configure.
In countries (China, Iran, etc.) where the access to certain sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace is prohibited, the use of VPN is not illegal. It is restricted, but not illegal.
Also, it is legal to use a VPN to unblock Hulu, BBC iPlayer or other services that are restricted to users from certain countries.
To sum up, you canft get in any trouble for using a VPN unless you are suspected of doing illegal activities while under hidden IPfs.
Thank you for your kind answer!
I only want to access to HULU and other streaming services and to the full google play range of products from USA. That's everything I am looking for.
Following your way of thinking this would be legal. Are you sure?
Also if I want to purchase a VPN service which would you suggest? I found many people suggest StrongVPN. Would you recommend it? As I am a newbye and I don't know the differences of StrongVPN packages, would you be so kind to suggest me the most suitable for the 2 activities (streaming and google play access) above cited?
Thank you so much for your time.
Cheers!

I use them for VPN. It cost me less than 5,000 yen per year! Hen setting up your VPN make sure to follow the the set-up instructions, If you are on a Mac they have you download Tunnelblick (Which in my opinion is crap), I found out that Viscosity works a whole lot better.
Right off the bat, you can get an iP that is American west cost (default), American Mid, and American East coast and Canada. If for some reason you want a Swiss, UK or some other country iP, then you need to use Tunnelblick (Which in my opinion is crap) or Viscosity. If you are on a Windows computer more complicated.
