Default Installing English OS on Japanese notebook?

I'm looking to buy a Fujitsu FMV Biblo NB80M. Will my computer work properly if I install an English OS? I'm just going to assume that it will come with a drivers disc, so that should be okay. Also, Fujitsu's warranties are international. Does this void my warranty? Thanks in advance.

That all depends on what you mean by "work properly".

If by work properly you mean it will boot up and you'll get to the desktop then yes. If it means will everything work, well that's another issue.

Point is very few systems will work 100% of the time using only the Windoze CD. Usually you'll need some kind of driver that very often is either proprietary, or designed to work on a specific machine only. There are ways around this like trying to find a generic driver for the item in question but sometimes that doesn't always work.

As for the driver's disc, well that's usually part and parcel of the re-installation disc. It's not always possible to simply take the drivers off the disc and install them later. Sometimes you need to go to the manufacturer's website and download them from there.

And finally the warranty. Changing the software won't invalidate your warranty after all it's your laptop and you can do what you want with it, don't expect them to support you on it however. If you want tech support, you'll need to re-install their software on it before continuing.

Afaik just have the windows CD and the driver CD's for your network/video/sound/etcetc ready and everything should work nicely.

If you know how to install the drivers etc then it should be fairly straight forward i believe.
