Thread: Internation kindergarten

    Question Internation kindergarten

Hi. I recently moved to the Yokohama area and I am looking for a great international kindergarten that is not so school based. I've heard that Japanese children study very hard, even at a young age. I'm not sure if this is a stereotype or not. My japanese friends children seem to study a lot. I'm looking for something that will stimulate creativity etc. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I would appreciate any comments.

Do you want an accreditted international kindergarted for foreign and expat kids? they have a different curriculum to japanese schools.

If you want an unaccreditted international kindergarted where your child can mix with japanese kids ( they are not connected to international elementary schools and high schools though) there are a few around.

PS kids study becuase if they want to get into their preferred high school they have to pass the entrance exam and often must attend jukus if they want a decent chance of getting accepted. Elementary schools in japan by and large are OK for foreign and Japanese kids, its only in Junior high school they get creativity squeezed out of them.

My friends at home have been getting their kids high on BC bud, and they find them very creative, although they often suffer from sudden, massive hunger attacks, and frequently repeat very simple tasks while giggling inanely.

    Hope that helps
