Default Australian to be executed in Singapore

    http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/...026368248.html

    Good on ya Johnny Howard.

I have no sympathy for the guy who is going to be executed. Whilst I am not a fan of the death penalty, it's well known what Singapore's policy is towards drug traffickers. Anyone who is stupid enough to take the risk deserves to pay the price.

    Thumbs up John Howard

I know very little about John Howard. What little I do know I really respect. This quote is a great example of his strong views and leadership. I also like his international work with neighboring countries like Bora Bora (sp) and his increases in exports for Australia. He seems to be making a lot of inroads on the international stage also. Once again I know very little about the man, but on the surface he seems to be making a name for the once little known country. I think Australia has always been an active player on the world stage since WW1 and WW2, but few on the international stage have ever given them the much-deserved credit. I think Howard is finally giving Australia the much need voice it deserves.

Thumbs up Good on yer Little Johnny!!

Yes J.T. I have to agree.
It is a good decision and hopefully it will deter any other idiots who want are considering trafficking.
Good to see a PM with some balls!!
The guy did the wrong thing, got caught, I don't see the need for a minute's silence or the need for the PM to give up his day at the cricket!

I also agree. Everyone knows about Singapore's super tough drug laws. He was caught and now must face the consequences.

What I don't like about this story is the trend in the Oz media to portray him, as well as Leslie and Corby (both convicted of possessing drugs in Bali), as victims. The media is just playing on the sympathy that the public has towards them to sell papers. Little Johnny Howard has shown good leadership on this case and on the others. The Oz government passed on it’s concerns to the Singapore government, but recognizes their prerogative to enforce their own laws.

Yes, the death penalty in Singapore is harsh, but as Singapore said, he was carrying enough heroin for 26,000 doses. This would have destroyed many more lives.

I agree with Mr. Howard's actions; why should the head of state show concern for a convicted drug trafficker and felon?

Decisions and consequences; if the man in question had been concerned with his life, he would not have tried carrying drugs into Singapore.

The fellow was in fact boarding a plane to Australia and wasn't even planning to sell the drugs in Singapore so the punishment is too heavy handed. It's a shame but there are many other more deserving recipients of the media's attention than this guy.

he was planning on selling a highly addictive drug....somewhere to someone and planning to profit from someone elses downfall....
so he is getting a fitting punishment.
    whats the shame in that?

Nyugen was foolish, but John Howard going to the cricket does not excuse him from being a lying, dishonest, elitist monster.

Howard has done more damage to Australia's culture of fairness (for all) than any other leader in the history of the country. He doesn't even deserve the credit for Australia's economic growth, as most of the reforms that made it all possible were put in place over 10 years ago by a previous government.
