    Default low-cost carrier Nagoya-Tokyo?

I will work in Tokyo from April but my family will stay in Nagoya. I was wondering what are the alternatives to the shinkansen (expensive) and night bus (too long) for a weekly commute between these two cities?

    Default alternatives

jeez, if u have ruled out shinkansen and night bus I can only suggest either hitchhiking or trying to find another person (or people) who make the trip by car and would let u tag along.
Phoebe is now in Seoul but a piece of my heart is forever gonna be in Tokyo.

Yes, a bit chilly in winter with the little Honda. You could use the regular train instead of the shink, but this will probably not be much faster than the night bus.

You can try to find a suitable connection here:

Nagoya to Tokyo for 500 Yen? How? Where? Show me pleeeeeeeease...

You might try the discount ticket shops to save a few yen from the regular price.

Tokyo to Nagoya for 400 yen... or 520 plus platform fee in Tokyo

Arrive at Nagoya anytime after 730 and say you came from Aizuma... its not manned after about 630ish, but 730 is safer.

I've no idea how long that would take, i'd need sudoku, and a mountain of mags.

of course it's better to pay
