Default noise / avant garde music scene in tokyo

Who has checked this scene out and survived to tell the tale?

I want to know about this scene. Bands and solo acts along the lines of melt banana, merzbow, and the boredoms must still have their circles in tokyo.

I am interested to see what kinds of people frequent these circles. Usually the avant garde scene is more liberal and receptive. I'd like to what it takes to get in to it.

Or you can post about some other ultra elite scene that no one knows about. I'd be interested to hear about them for their srictly sub-cultural (non-musical) aspects.

    Cool

The "noisiest" scene I've gotten into around here is at my house. It's so ultra elite that only my family and a few neighbors know about it. It usually starts on a weekend afternoon when I bring out my acoustic, run a few dislocated scales and strum a few chord medleys. Then up steps the daughter, smacking and pulling the strings with her clumsy 2-yr-old fingers. She sings/chants incoherently and pretty soon the neighbor's dog starts to howl along. Wife sits to the side in a trance and picks apart flowers petal by petal, repeating "suki...kirai...suki...kirai" in an endless loop to keep time. Now that's some avante garde sh!t...

I find both Ikebukuro and Shinjuku to be very noisy. Smelly, too.

Is it a purely aural experience you are seeking, or a combined aural-olfactory mindfeck?

Well, to speak the truth, I'd never though about appreciating the extreme ofacoltory powers of Tokyo.

I haven't showered in two days and I've just crapped on my dining table. Come over and we'll have a smell party, but don't come without a good gaijin butter stink going. We need to represent.

I'll bring my armpits along. Going by some of the threads here, that wouldn't exactly be a unique contribution but thanks to my idiosyncratic culinary practices, mine might be a rather unusual version of the aroma. And how about some gunge from the U-bend under my sink?

Oooh, we got a prodigy in the house.

You will fit in very well around here, my stinky friend. Very well indeed.

Umm, I will have to decline the invitation, I regret. Gotta go skiing.
