I won稚 fit in? Well maybe not perfectly, but I see the world of tomorrow more accepting of differences. You can see this in there recent cultural changes, and rise in youth outcasts. I study the mind and how it works and reacts in different settings. I know how to get what I want from people even if I知 not the most popular person there is. I知 sorry for sounding so extremist about my ways and believe, though I knew this would be the only way to access as many people as possible. If you want a result you must first ask the right question as they say. I caused a debate by posting in the teachers section by doing this you all saw me as foolish and in need of guidance. This caused more people to look at the thread and reply. I am 17 and I am moving to Japan in 3 months. Though believe me I know how to conform to the situation I知 in. I think since none of you could help I値l fly to Alaska do some fishing for a month or two. I値l make about 25-30 thousand a month. Then get a short visa to Japan, and look for work casually. Then every few months or so fly back to Alaska and renew my visa. Hopefully eventually I値l find a job in Japan once the social and economic poles shift, or I find someone who can give me a laborer job and visa.

    1. The social poles in Japan are not going to shift any time soon.
    2. Nobody can give you a visa. You don'tqualify for one.

You're very young and I don't think people were intentional cruel to you. It's just that you are dealing with a rather jaded crew of individuals on this site and you came across as a bit simple - I for one didn't know you were so young.
Look, get yourself some qualifications or a trade, I know that you might be impatient to get your life rolling we've all been 17 at one time. However contrary to myth and japanese thinking, japan does not take the poor unwanted and unclean. Nearly everyone who writes on this site has a degree at minimum and others have a lot more.
    Good luck.

Actually if you are willing to work illegally, and no job is too dirty or too unpleasant, I believe you can make 25 to 30 thousand yen per month. But how will you afford your plane ticket back to alaska ?

20 to 30 thousand yen is only about 20 to 30 dollars. Listen people I致e done my homework on this subject. You start in your teens to early 20s as a greenhorn or trainee. You get depending on the type of fish and season anywhere from 4,000 to 30,000. Within stays from 3 days to 2 months. As you become a full deckhand you make from 25,000 to 70,000 a season. I plan on doing salmon fishing or crab fishing in June before I take the last leg of my trip to Japan. As my visa runs out I値l go back and do some more fishing, until I find a job in Japan. Please tell me why this sounds so childish to you. I may be only 17 though I need to get out, and live my life. Degrees are not for me right now. Yes I値l live in Japan. Yes it will be difficult. Yes I might die. I am not a kid any more. I expect the worst and hope for the best. I致e done this much of my life and it痴 never let me down. Pessimistic views only allow you to give up. PS visas are not hard to come by only extended ones. I hope to obtain one after I search Japan at my leisure.

Better study a little more: at the current rate of 115 Yen to the dollar, it works to be 173 - 261 dollars.

PS visas are not hard to come by only extended ones.

And that is the whole point of our posts to you.

......until I find a job in Japan.

Illegally - we have told you it is possible, but you refuse to acknowledge the consequences: legally - with your current background and lack of any qualifications at all - not possible.

You'll realise what we have been talking about when you try to rent your first apartment, buy a mobile phone, open a bank account, and get sick.......

20,000 yen is equal to about 200 dollars 1,000 yen is 10 dollars and 100 yen is approximately 1 dollar. Sorry I forgot to add a zero at the end. You divided 20,000 by 115yen right? Hey, I知 not very good at math either. But I know that痴 not enough money to live off of. I have some connections with Alaskan fishers and I know I値l make enough money to get by until the next season. I知 still looking for laborer jobs so that I can get a longer visa.

to you everything has been negative so far, so tell us how can we help you?

Out of curiosity why do you want to come to japan? If you dont know japanese and arent fluent in english i dont think its gonna be all that for ya... America IS the land of opportunity, why not just make your fortune there and just come to japan on holidays?

I will make my fortune in America in Alaskan fishing. Then come to Japan for 90 days. When my visa is up I値l go back to Alaska and do more fishing and renew my visa. Then go back to Japan and continue this routine until I find a way to get an extended visa. I hope to get money from America and start a small business in Japan. Why? Well I like Japan call me crazy but don稚 call me dumb because what I知 doing is whatever makes me happy. You should do the same.

Hmm, one of the more entertaining threads I've read in the various forums I've visited.

Fishing in Alaska? That sounds interesting. I'll admit the pay is attractive, but that's the only thing. 20 hour work days, weeks without showering or shaving. Good food for the most part, if you aren't too seasick to eat it.

Need a degree? Do as I did, enlist in the Army. Better yet, the National Guard. You can go to school and serve out your contract concurrently. In 4 years you'll be out of the Guard, have your degree, and a little something to put on your resume.

For all of your martial arts training, you have suprisingly little common sense. Ideals are not always compatible with reality, particularly at your age. With luck and time, you'll develop a little perspective in life, but you'll have to open your eyes first.

Alot of good advice has been posted here, take it for what it's worth.
