    Hi everyone,

I just move to Japan and want to start Paypal but due to the high fee from paypal I guess I will stick with a personal ( not upgrade ) account. The question is:

What is the receiving /withdraw limit for the basic Paypal personal account in Japan ? I can add my credit card too but does it lift the receiving limit if I do so ?

Anybody have experience in this kind of problem please help.

    Thanks a lot.

    Cool

Since we can add funds from a Japanese credit card to a Japanese Paypal account instantly, can one do just that, and then redeposit the money back into their Japanese bank account, which then goes back to repaying the amount charged to the credit card. Wouldn't this be a mad point-collecting scheme?

    Just sayin'.

    Are you askin', or sayin'?

Have you not tried out this theory yet? I would be very curious as to the results.

No. This is not possible. You cannot add funds from either a credit card or a bank account using PayPal Japan. The only way you can get PayPal Japan to charge your credit card, it seems, is to send money to someone.

This is the exact message PayPal Japan will display if you try to add funds:

PayPal does not currently offer the ability to add funds from your bank account.

When you make a payment, PayPal charges the buyer's credit card and instantly credits the seller's PayPal account.

So I have 2 accounts, each assigned to a different email address. One is a U.S. account, the other Japan. What's to stop me from sending a payment to myself?

This is true. Well, this sort of sucks now because I have 200 yen sitting in my effing paypal account that can't go anywhere because I need a minimum of 1000yen to withdraw back into my bank account.

I have two accounts as well, because I thought it was a brilliant and genius idea to send money back for free. But there are these tricky fees that we have to keep in mind. In the end, I think nothing beats GoLloyds.

Default DO Japanese use Paypal in the first place?

Hi guys. Interesting discussion but I think it is also important to discuss how paypal is seen from the consumer side. Do Japanese consumers use paypal? That is, if your checkout page directs to paypal will they forget about their purchase and look for something more Japanese (even if you don't need a paypal account to pay)? Or is paypal widely accepted in Japan already? If not, any alternatives?

Default Japanese Bank Account To Shop Online

I've been wondering for quite a while now if someone here has done using paypal for online shopping but only registered a Japanese bank account?
I want to buy at Amazon.com but I don't have credit card so I thought if I could use a Japanese account to Paypal to be able to shop online since Paypal is really useful for online shopping.

PayPal Japan is really only useful when you need to deposit from PP to your bank or pay for an item with a Japanese credit card (anyone who wants info on how to get one, PM me. Contrary to popular belief it IS possible to own a Japanese CC as a freshman) that you've connected to PP.

Instead of Amazon.com, go to Amazon.jp. You can pay by CC, COD, convenience store kiosks, furikomi and carrier pigeons. Okay, I was joking about carrier pigeons but the others hold true.

    Cheers!

You can't set up paypal to take money from a bank. It's only one-way, paypal => japanese bank.
The only thing in Japan that is harder than being a foreigner in Japan, is being Japanese in Japan.

So in other words I can't connect a bank account (Japanese) to Paypal to shop online. It's because There are things in Amazon.com that they don't have in Amazon.jp.

Just a quick message to say careful to some folks who use Paypal. I just got an e-mail saying my Paypal security needed strengthening and so could I log in and update the account details. I've never used Paypal and don't have an account so it was easy for me to see it for the scam that it is. Hopefully anyone else here who has used Paypal before and gets the same message will be equally cautious.

Is it possible to use those BitCash or WebMoney deals you can buy at the combinis to add funds to Pay Pal? I'd like to be able to buy things on ebay again and I've had no luck getting a credit card on my 3 year visa.

This is a helpful thread thankyou

Can anybody tell me if its possible to add an Australian bank account to a japanese paypal account? I want to start recieving yen for parts i sell without pay crazy fees and also be able to transfer funds to my chugin bank account.

I have a premier account (set up in australia) already which i use for buying on ebay but i cant add an aussie bank to it. Is a personal account good enough for just recieving payment? Fees look cheaper on a personal account too.

Any info would be greatly appriciated.

    Cheers

Nope you can not add an Australian bank account to a Japanese PayPal account! You have to have a Japanese bank account!
