It seems to go unreported or at least few comments are made in mainstream media how profitable weapon sales are. After the Oil and Pharmaceutical industries I believe the weapons industry (sales of hardware, technology, machinery, missles etc.) is the third largest global industry. The US is a market leader in the development and sales of weaponry. Here we see a few dollars being spent. Where does this money go? (rhetorical)
TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) -- Taiwan's Legislature sent a portion of a long-delayed U.S. arms deal package to a budgetary committee Friday, advancing its consideration.
The deal, which would help the self-governing island defend itself from rival China, has been blocked by the opposition for more than two years.
Friday's vote advanced a 6.3 billion New Taiwan dollar ($196.9 million) portion of the total $16 billion package by moving it to the budgetary committee.
From there, it must pass two more readings to become law.
