Long-time listener, first-time caller.
I lived in Japan for four years and had to make a hasty exit due to an illness and related problems in the family. I was less than organized in my retreat back home and was unable to pay my OCN and NTT bill - have yet to disconnect the NTT line actually. I actually cancelled my OCN but never received my final bill, which probably came a day or two after I left. I tried to call NTT to cancel my phone service and once got through to a Japanese customer care rep but I wasn't able to understand everything he was saying to me so I requested to speak to someone in English - never got through despite repeated attempts. I even tried to get help to cancel at one of their OCN/NTT centers, no dice.
Trying to email them and looking for a phone number but the numbers I need are only available inside Japan and I'm now in the States.
Should I just say screw it and get a reliable, trustworthy friend to help me out? I'd rather not bother them.
Lastly, I didn't finish paying my ward taxes either. Is it possible for me to just send them my bank account info and let them take it out of my account.
And to answer your question, yes, I probably could have done it before I left but I got distracted with other things and assumed I'd have the time toward the end, but didn't. My bad. Lecture away. I just want some help at this point.
