    Default natto diet

A television program claiming that natto, a strong-smelling food made from fermented soybeans, could help people lose weight has sparked a buying frenzy across the country, causing some manufacturers to run out of the product.

Manufacturers are trying to boost their supplies, but shortages reportedly remain widespread, and some manufacturers have even taken out newspaper ads apologizing for the shortages.

Sales of natto surged following a program aired on Fuji TV on Jan. 7. The program introduced a man and woman who had lost weight after eating natto for two weeks. The isoflavone contained in the beans was said to increase a specific type of hormone in the body, proving beneficial for people on diets.

If that's all they ate then they would have lost weight. Eat the same amount of calories in any kind of food and you'll lose weight. Natto is healthy, but natto alone is not. They likely lost water weight and muscle and only a portion of their weight loss would have been fat.

I saw this show. They actually maintained their regular diets whilst eating two packets of natto per day. So actually they increased their daily calories. I am trying it at the moment so I will let you know how it goes. I really like natto and it has a lot of other health benefits so I can't see any harm in trying! Especially after excess eating around Christmas/New Years!

Fak, thats why I can't find any nattou. I was wondering what the deal was. I was eating a container a day to bump up my isoflavones and slow digest protien for breakfast, its been 2 weeks and I'm getting pissy.

Ahh - that's why they've been out at the supermarket since I've been home. I got home on the 7th and went shopping on the 8th and the whole case was empty. A few other products were sold out so I thought maybe it was an inventory thing (same things happens in the US sometimes around inventory season). But I've gone back every day and still no natto. Thank you for clearing that up!

Thanks for the info. I've never tried any fad diet, but I do like natto, and it is good for you, so maybe I'll bump up my intake and see what happens.

Well, it looks like the fad will come to an abrupt end as the show was found to have used fake data and photos to prove the magical effects of natto. Tomorrow’s show was cancelled, but I hope it comes back again because it was quite amusing at times. The week before the natto-diet show, two middle-aged “metabolic-syndrome” type men lost a percent of body fat by sitting in a hot spring bath for ten minutes.

    Ummmmm.
There are three points necessary to the natto diet:
    1. One should eat natto both in the morning and evening.
    2. The natto should be stirred at least 50 times or more.
    3. After stirring it should then be let to sit for twenty (20) minutes before eating.

This process is to activate the amino acids which are conducive to weight loss. This ain't my recipe but am only repeating what I've seen on TV and what others have told me. Good luck! Clint
    Go ahead make my day!

BS points...doesn't matter what show it's from. If it were that simple, people would just be eating THOSE amino acids for weight loss. You want to increase your metabolic rate you need a thermogenic that contains stimulants like green tea, kola nut and such...you want one that works, get Nitor from atlargenutrition.com. Works like a mofo...in all my life of lifting, I've never believed in 'fat burner' products...well, this might not burn fat (I don't know since I've only just started a week ago) but my body temp is constantly up and it's cuts cravings like nothing else. That's my 2 cents.

We should start to see supplies of natto return to the stores: the natto diet was just exposed as a fraud. Watch the news today.

The preferred route for dieters seeking a smaller pant size is the calorie deficit; cutting down calories and eating less to create a deficit in the body to burn fat.
